  1. haha hopefully will get a chance to try one soon not sure about them though definitely a try before you buy bit of kit I think, but won't knock it till I've tried it.
  2. looks good to me, once it's weathered a bit and has started to rot and get mosses and other stuff growing on it no one will notice anyway, alot of 'joe' public have 'tunnel' vision and can't see the wood for the trees, pardon the pun
  3. if you haven't got anything useful to say don't say nothin at all go buy a spiderjack
  4. BOOM
  5. Hi Mark, hopefully this pic will explain, I'm going to stitch the two touching legs together leaving the eye then tying my prusic and pulley round the two legs. so it'll work more like a pulley saver than a rope guide.
  6. thanks, got the needles and twine but kinda wanted more info on how to do the actual stitching e.g. burying the ends
  7. just wondering if anyone can give some advice on stitching rope, I want to make a rope guide, and want to 'grizzly' splice one piece of 10mm prussic cord together to make the eye, (don't worry the stitching won't be load bearing). Will put some pics up once I've made it just need to know how to get it started cheers:001_smile:
  8. ditto, gonna get the back pad attachment as well looks similar to the austria back pad so hopefully will be extra comfy
  9. here's a couple on my SJ
  10. sorry mate couldn't resist it, let me know if Deidre doesn't have the answer and you decide to have another go and I can give you some tuition on how to use it, give in to the darkside
  11. oh yeah
  12. yeah that was me, how come you'd never go back to the sawpod?
  13. what's that you've got there Marc? oh it's a SPIDERJACK........ BOOM that's where it's at!
  14. no unfortunately not
  15. true about the price but you can make a homemade one cheaper. oh dear been there when you feel the need you just gotta go haha
  16. go for a pulley saver, really easy to install and loads of applications [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_zDuHgVbBk&feature=related]pulleySAVER - YouTube[/ame] check out this video. with the jacket you need to speak to Diana Darbyshire at Sawpod she's got smocks made from Ventile which is a super high weave cotton so its breathable and really water proof. I use one and it works really well. It's a bit more expensive then a Harkie but well worth it and you can customise it to have whatever you want i.e hi viz, hood etc. check out sawpod.co.uk for their contact details
  17. Hi drew yeah it is a really nice bag, Tony has asked me to tell you what I think. You don't see it in the video but I carried the bag up the tree the sent it down where I wanted my rope, really nice idea especially when used with SRT as your ropes don't get tangled together. And I like the webbing loop inside the bag to clip your friction system to so it doesn't get lost. Would be really good to get it over into the UK market. cheers Marcus
  18. wow!!!
  19. agreed, I just used the photo as an example but if you used a long prusik it would work fine
  20. yeah but when you first install your anchor point the spliced eye will be right up close to the SJ so you can install the ring then, and you can leave it there until you want to set up an 'M' rig, or you can just have the ring set up before you even leave the ground as it doesn't get in the way.
  21. you can make a slack tender for a prusik by taking a length of starter cord and making a small prusik loop, Then tie a prusik with the starter cord above the spliced eye or knot on your rope then get a small tool clip karabiner and clip it to the small prusik, Then place a micro pulley under your main climbing prusik and attach it to the small prusik via the tool clip then slide the small prusik so it's above your main climbing prusik. Sounds very confusing, sorry, but it's good for long accents because all you have to do is pull on the tail of your rope and body thrust and the pulley will move the main prusik for you, hope this helps. here's a pic I found on google, looks like it's done with a distal though instead of a prusik.
  22. SPIDERJACK is where it's at BOOM! No the side ring doesn't get in the way because it's held in place by the red rubber hold, and you don't need it in from the start of the climb i.e. from the ground, you just install it whilst setting up the 'M' rig at your anchor point.
  23. yeah more kit than I know what to do with, the DB bag's really good! holds 50m of rope and all my SRT gear
