  1. I use it. Works fine with rope wrench, still playing with making it advance smoothly on the way up. Nice tether that honeys made me, makes it engage well. Have tried it without but zigzag got quite hot after only short amount of descent, put me off so went back to the wrench.
  2. We run a Carlton 7015 for larger stumps with +35inch access and a HB20 for narrow access jobs, from dodgy Dean at Global. Works for us
  3. I have Disco 3 on 06 plate. Had it from new and its a great. Tows better than anything I've driven. Comfortable on long journeys. Sure it's had to be repaired for various things in recent years, guess I'm lucky got a got independent Land Rover mechanic. Downsides you will only get 25mpg and they don't work with LED trailer lights. If you can find a good one would highly recommend them.
  4. To be honest watching a stump grinder take the top off stump above ground level doesn't tell me whether it's any good. It's how it performs with its wheel below ground level that's important. All the machines with hydraulically driven wheels I've tried have been poor in comparison to the same size belt driven machines. The width is is massively important, is has to be under 35 inches as big grinders are that width and why would you want a small one where you can get the big one in.
  5. We brought a splitta 400 from Fuelwood a couple of years back. Worth a look if you can sell enough firewood to make it pay. Works well for us but you have to make sure timber is cut paraell. Makes a good uniform product and speeds up the process. Regards Neil
  6. You can tip off in my yard if needed We are based about 5 miles west of reading. Pm your number and I will call you tomorrow. Regards Neil
  7. I'm just glad you didn't wear Greenmech thong!
  8. Nice smile bigman but in that photo no one can read the forst logo! How do you expect them to use that in their advertising And you appear in to stood in front of an inferrer American chipper Fair play for doing it, Andy said you wouldn't have the balls to.
  9. Having visited the Global superstore at APF and been treated to some hog roast, free goodies and Deans wit. I decided to repay the favour by buying Dean a new hat. He has promised to post a picture later Let's hope he is true to his word.
  10. We have found Low horse power(up to 40hp) go with green teeth. High horse power go with bandit revolution or Carlton razor cut. Use MultiTip many years ago and wasn't very impressed. Just my opinion/experience You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  11. DBM Hire nr Reading in Berkshire. They work out of same yard as MultiTip. 01189401740 speak to David. You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  12. Went to look at job yesterday. Row of pops felled about a year ago and stumps ground out. (Priced this job but didn't get it) And look what's happened What looks like shrubs along fence line is root suckering. First thought was that stumps had not been ground properly but bit of digging around and whoever did it was pretty thorough. And looks what's happening to Councils freshly relaid footpath. Got to be a little smug and explain to the client if they had gone with my quote I would have poisoned them first! Now we will get a job putting right someone else's cock up. You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  13. I would kill them in situ before felling. If you don't want a forest of root suckers, although it's seems to depend on what type of pop. Easier said than done mind! Last time we did on mature pops took four visits putting in Ecco plugs and still didn't have much effect. Ended up drilling sloping holes and pouring in neat round up. Needless to say made a big loss on the poisoning part of the job. Amazing how difficult it can be to kill a healthy tree. Have wondered about using a tree injection system like arbor jet to introduce roundup next time but haven't had a job recently that requires it. 14. I have a crew working in Altwood Road Maidenhead today. I will get them to take a spare lid, which your welcome to borrow as long as you return it to our yard when your done. Yard is a 10-15min drive from Maidenhead. Just tell them your the guy from arbtalk. Can't remember the exact house number but our trucks are bright green and sign written you can't miss them. They will be there from 8am Regards Neil You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  15. 800mm and a bit Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  16. You could use that old fashioned thing called a telephone and ask! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  17. I got one from Treeworker has a rubber end to handle, that you can use as a sounding hammer and is marked with 100mm increments, which is a great help when probing decay. Yes you can save money by using anything but IMO this was worth every penny You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  18. I've got a 8 tonne and 2 tonne kit. I will sell cheap. Pm your number and I'll call you Monday You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  19. I learnt that 2/3s of the mk1 zig zags sold have not been returned to Petzl despite them offering to exchange it for a mk2 Unbelievable people must have money to burn or not care about the safety You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  20. Reluctantly I have a 1975 1164 with Highland Bear crane on it for sale. £6k ONO pm me for more details You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  21. They're squabbling over the sub 750kg market, something that Forst aren't in. From what I see on the back over tree company wagons it's probably the biggest chipper market (in terms of numbers). The more they try and outdo each other the better the product gets for us, the end user. We have had our new 240 for 2 weeks now, I'll ask the lads who use it daily for their feedback and post it. My impression so far is it's a tidy little machine, blades are relatively simple to change, drags in and chips well. On the downside the feed hopper is low I have to stoop to feed brash in. 22. Search 'sharpening green teeth' on YouTube there is a video by Australian company called RedRoo demonstrating how to. Looks pretty easy but be warned from what I've heard the dust is very carsonagenic. You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  23. Brought a 4012 diesel about 6mths ago. Good little machine in the hands of the right operator but still has it's limitations. No nothing about petrol version. But the price you have been offered and quoted on here are way over what I paid. You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  24. As requested You can't alway compete on price but you can on quality
  25. My splitta 400 has a conveyor and cleaner attached but in essence they are separate a separate unit sure Fuelwood would happy to sell you one. We hang a bulk bag off forks of telehandler to catch logs and one off frame to catch dross.
