Can someone tell me whats going on with this Lime tree. It was topped off about 3 years ago, It had masses of HF last year around the base. I hope you can see from the picture the yellowing between the bark. What sort of fungus is doing that? or what process is occurring? Thanks
  9. Did you have any luck with the bat box (i assume) set in the tree like that? I've been looking into making natural boxes while veterinising trees and wondered how they would do.

  17. An excellent document looking forward to giving it a good read.
  18. I disagree. As a Local Authority arb employee we vetted our new contractors extensively on many criteria outside of the £. Yes some are cheaper than the local firms and that's what its all about ££ you have to be realistic it means we can do more work for less money and isn't that a good thing? Whoever mentioned about shopping at Supermarkets rather than local stores pretty much hit the nail on the head and killed this discussion.
  19. Hello I'm looking for extra work at weekends, I'm Currently working for a Local Authority doing Tree surveys and so looking for something similar. I'm Also looking for practical work groundie or coppicing/felling work etc I can chainsaw from a MEWP but can't climb. i'm Based in Berkshire but can travel, please inbox me or reply if you have anything? Much appreciated Thanks
  20. This is somewhat vague but so bare with me. My GF and myself have been discussing working abroad and/or travelling. She works in the Conservation sector as a Ranger for the National Trust which is also my background but have been doing Arboriculture for the last couple of years and i'm currently working as an Arb Officer. We have discussed working in the States but also Germany which are both very different i'm sure. I've tried to find out information about both but haven't turned up much. We were thinking of Travelling across the states but would like to do Conservation Jobs as we go to gain exp and cash as that's what we are both qualified to do, does anyone have any experience of this. On the other hand we are looking to live in Germany as an alternative and get jobs out there in similar fields and so would like some advice as to how easy this is. Overall i guess i'm looking for peoples experiences of doing both and how feasible they are? Thanks in advance.
  21. this! Removing standing dead wood to make the area "safe" WTF!!!
  22. Ted Green Insists that Jays travel quite a few KM's with Acorns in order to ensure that not all there food is in one basket so to speak. If they are growing fine i wouldn't worry about manure thier biggest problem will be getting nipped off by deer or rabbits.
