  1. I've been offered some work, planting for 6 days but have no idea how much to charge on a day rate, i'm just the manual labour for the job how much do you usually, pay/charge for day rate planting? Thanks Trees are Small whips
  2. I recently did my PTI and have a level 2 and had about 3 years surveying exp before that. The first 2 days is basically a teaching aid telling you everything you might need it includes outside practicals and indoor teaching. The fungi questions on the exam is open book as well. Its a lot of money but i passed it with what you have. Best thing i found was to ring whoever was running the course and have a chat with one of them and explain your background and experience, i did that and although i wasnt massively confident i went for it and passed so it can be done. Good luck
  3. "Would you be interested in the red data list species for ecology conservation for example?" This and maybe habitat types so you can at least know what potential species you could be disturbing and where.
  4. Can be removed if its dangerous, but i would take lots of photos to cover yourself, or just give the TO a ring in the morning and let them know youre doing it, they will then advise you further.
  5. Do you deliver? i have relatives in Bristol and would love a section of this next time im down that way. Cheecky ask i know
  6. We have several sites like this and actually removal is Conservation, The tree roots actually do quite a lot of damage to underlying archaeology which is probably why they are going in the first place. Take the money your'e doing good work!
  7. Anyone have a link to this course google didnt come up with anything?
  8. I passed this, wasnt as tricky as i thought Thanks all (did get a fungi wrong though)
  9. I've just had confirmation of my place on the one next week with the AA after someone dropped out. I was chatting to a guy today and he was saying look at areas like Tree Dynamics Self optimising structures Axiom of uniform stress Apart from the Fungi what areas should i be hammering next week? Finally Does the tee inspection include the drawing up of a three inspection sheet or do they give you one already? if its the former anyone got a .pdf they can send me as the one we have at work is basic and quite generic? Thanks
  10. Hi All Im not totally familiar with lightning strikes but i suspect this is can someone comfirm it for me? Its basically a spiralling twist of dead bark on 2 separate trees (phots included) Apologies that they are facing the wrong way up. Or of not lightning what could cause that? Cheers
  11. Does anyone know other than the AA one being run end of November if there is another course being run before the end of the year as the AA is a lot more expensive than others. Thanks
  12. Another vote here, Also it looked like you had a much safer escape point over your right shoulder and wouldnt have needed to turn your back
  13. i used to have a Jotul it was excellent.
  14. From my understanding of there literature you still have to attend a day every 2 weeks? which i am unable to do so im looking for a total 100% online course

  17. I did the L2 last year on day release from work but thats not an option this year so i was thinking of doing it online but cant find a provider. Have they stopped offering it as an online course now? Thanks
  18. Thats who i was looking to do mine with but its not untill April sadly. Would like to do it sooner.
  19. Thanks alot for that. I based in Berkshire but was looking at a course in Surrey. The AA is about £150 more than the one im looking at.
  20. I was reading this thread as im looking to do the PTI 3 day course. Ive done the rfs cert in arb and have about 2 years exp of tree surveying will this be enough background knowledge to pass as i hear its quite tricky. Obviously im gonna be doing lots of study before i have a go anyway. Also i have found a couple of providers but there is about £150 difference in price and im just wondering whether this is reflective on the quality of the teaching/course materials on each course? thanks
  21. I'm close to finishing the L2 now and i nearly did it by distance learning but managed to get the time of work to attend and in all honesty it would be really hard by distance learning IMHO so many questions im 100% glad i went to college to do it. If you can find the time go to college to do it!
