  6. Hey we all know life can be hard:D

  10. If it bleeds catch the SAP, it makes the best homemade wine i have had:) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. My advice for a poly tunnel is to start water cress off in a old bathtub or similar over summer. At the end of the summer transplant to the tunnel and you will have yummy water cress all winter. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. I add 10% on materials and 10% on final figure(this includes labour, materials, plant hire and use of plant owned). I never break down costs, just supply a full spec and total price. I tell fussy customers that i always use same suppliers and if they want to trawl the internet for every item they probably could get some stuff cheaper but on there head be it. The only time i ever work differently is when working for friends when they pay directly for materials and i work for day rate.
  13. Nice work clive. Must be nice to get to put the boxes up and complete the job!
  14. Cheap chop saw with a nail blade easily the fastest way. I use a lot of construction waste and do it all this way. As previously stated screwfix is best. But sometimes diy stores do deals. Cheap one should cost around £40. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. That's right. The quickload is essentially unbranded, was going to go for it because of price, but as said found the Hitachi for 250 delivered so went for that. Had another play today and I can't fault it, at roughly half price of paslode and still a decent brand, I would say its well worth considering. The 2 year warranty also stands whatever nails and gas you use. I have been told that paslode warranty is compliant on own brand fixings being used, though am not certain. 16. Took delivery of my new Hitachi gun today, and bostitch nails. It's quite a tool. Only fired a handful of nails into a few different woods, and im more than happy with it so far. Will start using properly in next couple of weeks and will let you know how it fares, fitting a kitchen at the minute, thought about using it to fit the worktops but not sure how the customer would feel about that:D Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Organic is the future, and so are gardeners. All mass non organic farming relies heavily on oil and gas for all fertilisers and pesticides, although it May appear that conventional farming is the best way, when the oil is gone many will starve. Conventional farming even makes the soil completely infertile so oil based products are necessary. Imo forest gardening is the future. The most fertile places in farms are the hedgerows. Watch Farm for/of the future on you tube. It's very interesting. Forest gardening and permaculture will be the only way when ancient solar energy is gone and we have to rely on current solar energy. Rant over. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Thx guys, gifted one to my sister, our helpful cousin, who was staying with her a few weeks cleared up her kitchen for her, the Board and two handmade knives, my bro in laws work, straight in dishwaser! You really start to understand the different water absorbtion rates of different woods when you see the mess that came out. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. I have been considering making a chess board in the same way, but how to make the matching pieces is hard, as I'm not a carved. any ideas greatly recieved. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. heres a couple of projects i finished recently, all wood sourced from our own woodland. Beech and walnut end grain chopping board. Made a batch of 4, not as compliacated as it looks. Walnut and apple sliding dovetail jewelery box with secret locking pin. Sorry about quality of pics,i seem to have damaged my camera.
  21. Are you going to use these boards as a roof cover instead of shingles? Do you not think you may have problems with driving rain if the boards do cup?
  22. Mill collected today, all seems sweet. Got a lime butt I was going to log, but think ill mill it next week for a little practice. Pics to follow. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Your wasted on tree work clive, still I guess it gets you some mice wood! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Any chance of a pic of one of your oil burners clive? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Cleared out a retiring gun stock maker last year and there were a couple of semi roughed out blanks of walnut. 3" thick but not 50" guess there about 36-40" long. Probably 30+ years old so very dry. Would these be any good to you? Not much use to me coz of shape, I'd waste most of it. so would happily part with. If your at all interested let me know and ill post pics and sizes to see if suitable. There not as dark as most walnut, he told me exactly what they were, but can't remember, couldn't be certain there English as there were a lot of tropicals in what I took from him.
