  1. What did you pay for the dewalt jmac? Doing 20m of closed board fence tomorrow, so will post a proper review of my new Hitachi mid week. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Thanks Ed, ill give you a shout when i get set up with the oak,its at my place. Elm is my brother in laws in bristol so ill be doing that with him in anticipation of some free boards.
  3. Yes I'm happy with it, only played with it on some lime so far, had a couple of proplems with one of the powerheads, but nothing serious, recoil spring snapped, managed to bend a new hook on it and seems ok now, clutch exploded badly cracking cover, not sure as to why, new clutch assembly and cover needed. Also needs a hexicoil fitting on opposite side cover. I guess its expected with old machines, do you think clutch could have been user error, I.e. different engine speeds from each power head, or just one of those things? The beauty of a spare head came into play. Got a large oak and elm to do so keen for any advice on cause of problem. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Thanks Alec, thats exactly what i thought, but better to check before shelling out. No worries on the cover, still got two running, just want to getthe spare totally sorted before i go to do a large elm. Thanks James
  5. Hi, Im guessing theres not much difference between these saws, so if i was to buy a 051 non runner as a donor saw for the 051av's that i use for milling, would it be compatible. Thanks in advance James
  6. Stupid question, is wood used green or seasoned? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Dewalt xrp 18v is what I have used for years, work them hard and don't have any conplaints, accept that makita May now have the edge but I have 9 cordless tools running same batteries so hard for me to get away from them. Plus points for dewalt is there old tools are compatible with there new batteries, but this is not the case for makita. I like dewalt but as with most brands They do do cheaper versions of there tools, and they should be avoided. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Thx peeps. Will have a ring round them. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  11. Hi guys, Anybody got any idea where to get the clutch removal tool from for an 051, or best way to get it off with out one? not used to these old outboard clutches. I also need a clutch cover for a 051 if anybody has or knows of one. Thx James
  12. Hi folks, got to do a one off closed board fence job in chew stoke for me sister, can anybody tell me the best place to buy from in bristol area.Thx. Much appreciated. James
  13. About 4 months for my bills too, also thought I'd got away with it!
  14. Hey we all know life can be hard:D
  15. I'm sorry, but I expect the bill will come, had a couple myself, alwYs around £300. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Nice oil burner clive, do you buy kits for them? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Nice work mate. Where do you source your oak? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. If it bleeds catch the SAP, it makes the best homemade wine i have had:) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. My advice for a poly tunnel is to start water cress off in a old bathtub or similar over summer. At the end of the summer transplant to the tunnel and you will have yummy water cress all winter. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. I add 10% on materials and 10% on final figure(this includes labour, materials, plant hire and use of plant owned). I never break down costs, just supply a full spec and total price. I tell fussy customers that i always use same suppliers and if they want to trawl the internet for every item they probably could get some stuff cheaper but on there head be it. The only time i ever work differently is when working for friends when they pay directly for materials and i work for day rate.
  21. Nice work clive. Must be nice to get to put the boxes up and complete the job!
  22. Cheap chop saw with a nail blade easily the fastest way. I use a lot of construction waste and do it all this way. As previously stated screwfix is best. But sometimes diy stores do deals. Cheap one should cost around £40. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. That's right. The quickload is essentially unbranded, was going to go for it because of price, but as said found the Hitachi for 250 delivered so went for that. Had another play today and I can't fault it, at roughly half price of paslode and still a decent brand, I would say its well worth considering. The 2 year warranty also stands whatever nails and gas you use. I have been told that paslode warranty is compliant on own brand fixings being used, though am not certain. 24. Took delivery of my new Hitachi gun today, and bostitch nails. It's quite a tool. Only fired a handful of nails into a few different woods, and im more than happy with it so far. Will start using properly in next couple of weeks and will let you know how it fares, fitting a kitchen at the minute, thought about using it to fit the worktops but not sure how the customer would feel about that:D Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Organic is the future, and so are gardeners. All mass non organic farming relies heavily on oil and gas for all fertilisers and pesticides, although it May appear that conventional farming is the best way, when the oil is gone many will starve. Conventional farming even makes the soil completely infertile so oil based products are necessary. Imo forest gardening is the future. The most fertile places in farms are the hedgerows. Watch Farm for/of the future on you tube. It's very interesting. Forest gardening and permaculture will be the only way when ancient solar energy is gone and we have to rely on current solar energy. Rant over. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
