  1. I'm near Milton Keynes.
  2. I'd be interested if it's still available, will email you. I'm not far away near Milton Keynes. How many lengths is there?
  3. Hey chaps, in in need of some decent cedar saw logs for a barn I'm building. Anybody got any available? Need the in the next 4 weeks. Probably need about 200 hoppus feet + wouldn't say no to an 8 wheeler load. Cheers James
  4. Hi, I'd be interested in the tree. I'm near Milton Keynes. Let me know if it's still available. Cheers. James
  5. Oak will only black stain badly if in contact with ferrous metals. Will weather and grey off if left to its own devices which would be my choice. I could cut oak sleepers for you at 8.5 X 5 or 8 X 4 if you wanted them to equate. But not 10x5 without it being a pita. Could cut the ash as well no problem. Definitely don't use ash outside it's worse than pine. Call me any time to talk about milling. Best not to do it till September anyway. James
  6. Hi, I was in costco yesterday and there selling the above saw for £98+vat. Thinking about getting one as a backup to my husky 545. Anyone ever used one have an opinion. Obviously don't expect it to compete with the husky but thought it might save the day sometime seen as there giving them away. 7. Hi, I be willing to do it for you, got a Lucas 830 so can cut 8.5 X 8.5" or anything smaller. Can also slab them up if preferred. I'm based in Winslow as Steve mentioned(thanks for thinking of me bud) so only about 45mins away. Call me on 07760263686 if interested. Thanks James
  8. Contact Copford sawmill, they will supply cedar. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Got them from a website called spares 4 mowers. They were the cheapest of the 2 online companies I could find selling them. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Ok genuine belts arrived and I had it back together in about 20mins. Working nice so I even ordered a new blade for it. The first belts I bought were actually terrible. The shorter one was about 3" shorter than the proper one, hence the reason I couldn't fit both. Thanks for all the help on this guys. Much appreciated. Just need you to stop the rain for me now so I can get the grass cut. James Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. For me it much depends, I have a Hitachi first fix nailer a d a bostich 16g pin gun. They both get used but not loads and loads. If I had bought paslode for both it would of cost me an awful lot more. I service these my self every couple of months and I've never had problems with them. If you do a direct comparison from the paslode to the Hitachi, build quality is very similar, they weigh pretty much the same they have the same fire rate and use the same gas/nails. Hitachi Imo make quality tools. If you compare a pro saw to a ryobi the same can't be said. If I was fencing regularly and the tools were likely to earn me money i think I would still take the Hitachi as personally I can't see much difference. Maybe a few years down the line I'll regret buying tools for less than half the price of the paslode, but at the moment I'm very happy with the Hitachi and the bostich. I can replace both with brand new and still be in pocket. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Thank guys, 545 on a 15" it is then. Will husky allow mail order on there machines? Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Thanks, I'll check the 545 out. Always thinking of budget, the saw won't come out much but want it to last. Guess I just have to decide how much I want to spend. Will the 545 cut much quicker than the 450 or is it just build quality your paying for? Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. OK I know you guys are bored with what saw threads, but I think I've narrowed down my new saw purchase to one of the above. I'm going to do my cs30/31 in the next few months so must be suitable for that. I'm no way a pro user. Will be used for some small scale logging, and as a cross cut saw along side my 051s when milling and to go out with my Lucas mill. I think 15 or 18" bar is fine. So my question is for occasional use, is the cheaper 440 going to suit my needs? If not what's the main differences between 450 and 550. Should I save on a 450 or go for it and get a 550xp. This is occasional non pro use. Firewood for burning myself and to aid in milling. Thanks for the help. James Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Thanks guys, I ordered some genuine belts today so I will let you know how I get on when they arrive. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. I get ya, was thinking just financially. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Why is diesel better than gas? Gas is cheap Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I got the Hitachi, and have also used the quick load. Both are good tools. The first Hitachi they sent me was faulty out the box, they replaced it and the replacement has been fine. Benefit of these two is you can fire quickload nails without losing your warranty. I did some fencing for my folks last year and used it as a test for quickload nails and in about 14 months there has been no staining from the nails. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. OK, so I found a few hours today to have a go and got on OK to start with. Got the belts off and fitted the new ones, these weren't oe belts as recommended, but I already had them before your advice. I got the variable speed belt on OK and got the drive belt on the double pulley and over the shaft of the driven pulley. There's no way I'm winding it round the pulley, it's just too tight, and the other belt is tight and preventing the double pulley moving over anymore. The double pulley is also seriously out of alignment. Like the shorter belt is too tight and pulling it too hard and tilting it. So my question is does it sound like I should just get some oe belts, or does it sound to you like I need a new double pulley? Surely It shouldn't be able to tilt with just the force of the belt. Also when I Google for belts I just get loads of different pattern belts, so where is a good place to purchase oe belts from. Many thanks for your help with this. 20. Yeah tried that. Manuals are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Thx Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  21. Thanks for that, pretty much what I thought had to be done. I will give it a go myself in the knowledge that if I mess up my dad will sort it for me. I was given the machine 5 years ago as it was broken. Put a different battery on it so it wasn't broken anymore, so I haven't a lot to complain about. When I looked at it, it appeared that two of the pulleys were quite far out of alignment, but judging how far the blade drive pulley goes out when you engage it I thought I might not be wrong. I have to agree that the design is abysmally, but it works good when it doesn't need fixing. What do you charge when I deliver a mower in bits with a patch over my eye? ;-) Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Hi peeps, I've got a lawnflite 604 ride on. The two drive belts are buggered and need replacing. I've got the belts and had a quick look, but it looks like a nightmare of a job. It appears to me you have to roll the mower on its side and take most of it apart to change them. I was wondering if anyone had done this and may be able to offer me a few pearls of wisdom? Thanks in advance. James Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. It's a complicated saga. It may well still get milled. I'm just not running round trying to sort it when I'm not getting straight answers from the customer. I will update with pictures if I ever do get there, but at the moment who knows. Inb ox cleared. Now mate. Chess pieces might still go ahead, depends if I get a minute or not. I'm currently testing my board making skills with a backgammon set though. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Thanks for all the offers for help on this, but it's not going ahead now. Some people can't be helped. Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Thanks John. He wants it slabbed though. Yes he's paying. I guess you have an 830 so is it possible we could put my Lucas slabber on your mill, as my carriage /engine is in for repair? What would you charge for the day mate.? Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app
