  1. that lovely smell is actually cyanide, nasty stuff laurel:thumbdown: I would say chip it.
  2. We were working on a site once when a workmate got a needle in his thumb, I have never seen a guy go so white with fear and i have done some scary things in my time. We went straight to the hospital and got it all checked out and my workmate was ok but just the thought of what he could have contracted from it was scary enough. Horrible situation and i will always remember his face anytime i work near possible junkie sites, i prod around the tree with a stick all the time now just in case.
  3. wow thats a lot of needles:scared1: Take care mate dont get stuck with one of those things or it could be goodnight in a slow horrible way
  4. Hi ZED Thats good advice from Rupe but i would say if you are going to start up on your own then you will need to be extremely careful. You will be in direct competition with many other companies and probably a lot of which are vets to the trade. Pricing jobs is always a difficult thing and its very easy to get it wrong even for someone with years on the job. Lets say you see a job and think ok that will take 2 or 3 days so you price in the freelancer for that time plus all your other expenses, next thing you know after a week on the job you realise there is still some days left to complete it. BIG mistake and very costly on your part. On the other end of the spectrum you may put 2 or 3 days on a job which you wont get because the next guy knows its a 1 day job and prices you out. These are just a couple of examples of what can go wrong and for someone with no experience in the job its going to be extremely difficult for you to get it right. I can only wish you the best of luck and if you are serious about it then this is the best place to get advice:thumbup:
  5. Nice one Ray:thumbup: Now its blood sweat and tears from now on:001_tt2:
  6. this just shows how they dont care about truth, when they get a story that will sell papers then they make up the bits they dont know.
  7. That is very true but off track of this thread. Addiction is a terrible thing and i know many addicts of drugs, alcohol, smoking (myself) etc but there is many addictions you probably wouldnt even have thought of and a lot of them are media induced like addiction to diets, tv, Arbtalk and there is even a water addiction! There are many drug addicts and few of them are sad cases of getting caught up in something they didnt understand, but the vast majority are complete wasters with no real ambition or just complete idiots. The problem is they all get tarred with the same brush.
  8. Looks like a good bit of kit but ladders scare the hell out of me and i just wouldnt trust it. I can branch walk out to the thinnest of tips without a heart flutter but put me on a ladder and you better stay out of the way of whatever falls out my trousers:lol: only way for me is to fix it to something solid then i am ok.
  9. Now thats flowing with what this thread is about! Nicely put J
  10. about the importance of fools amongst many other things, i could spend all night explaining it but in a very very summarised version they are brainwashed into parting with their hard earned cash. Thats the bottom line.
  11. I would say that most of that was made up, but you know, it probably wasnt!
  12. If you think that then just delete it, like i said it wasnt my intention for it to come across that way. As for the media well thats another problem altogether and one that i cant do anything about except never buy a news paper ever again, which i have not done for many years now for exactly this type of reason. I dont care about what celeb is doing what to another celeb, or what big brother or the likes is getting up to, these things are of no importance to me and are written for the brainwashed public of whom i dont want to be one. If ever the media starts to concentrate on real life and put celeb news in a little corner on page 5 or something then i may buy a paper or 2 again but this will never happen. This will never happen because people are more interested in a drunken singer than someone that is laying his life on the line to save the lives of thousands he has never even met. That to me is worth being told about and why i started this thread.
  13. Its no argument, and you wanting to delete it is proving it to be a touchy subject. I am fed up with the media concentrating only on the people IN the media. To me this soldier has as much right if not more, to have his story heard than a singer. This is my opinion and i put it out to be heard, if i come across as being cold hearted then it is not my intention. I never branded her as a junkie, that was done well before this thread and by many other people. Not calling her by her first name was a mistake and for that i am sorry.
  14. thats why i started a new thread
  15. Just wanting to voice my opinion on something that is in my mind not right. Lately we have been hearing constantly about winehouse dying, ok its sad and a waste of talent but she wasted it herself. This on the other hand is almost unheard of... Afghanistan: Corporal Mark Anthony Palin, UK Soldier Killed In A Blast, Leaves Behind Pregnant Wife | UK News | Sky News This for me is just not right. i would rather be hearing about this hero than a junkie singer who has done nothing for any of us. Please give your comments... RIP Corporal Mark Anthony Palin my thoughts are with his family.
  16. Gerrit you really are "the man"
  17. Ok stevie i understand why you took it out but it wasnt really slating her was it? i was just bringing into view what i think should be more important. as Janey says "The untimely loss of ANY life is a tragedy, regardless of the circumstances." i was just letting you all know of another unheard of death that to me has more significance to us all. Corporal Mark Anthony Palin to me has more right to be recognised and is not. RIP to both
  18. please read my previous post
  19. in post 41 the 4th picture, is that a horizontal crack in the tree? was it there already before the fungus took hold or was it made by the fungus? looks like there was some more brackets there that have fallen off. No reason for asking, just curious:001_rolleyes:

  23. The man has spoken once again:thumbup: 99.9% sure its the chicken crap being your problem:thumbup1:
  24. well said:thumbup1: not so long ago i needed to use the tail of my rope to make a second (long) strop so i tied a bowline with a long tail and with the tail tied a blakes for the friction hitch. Had to do that many times and is very helpful.
