  1. You'd be flying for nothing tony, it's sci-fi!?!?
  2. Jo-bu, Jo beau, Jo shmo! Surely the point is about there being nothing to do but make fun at the neighbours? But then, jokes are not funny anymore when you have to explain them.
  3. I've had them before after putting on a few pounds over winter and then non-stop sheep-shearing for months. I found the main thing is diet, lots of fibre and get rid of excess fat around the waist. The other thing is that there is also an element of genetics involved that determine the likelihood of them occurring.
  4. "Ripeur 2" gloves! They're the dogs for jobs like that.
  5. My wife's immediate question was: " did she win her eBay item?"
  6. Not "alexa" again? Well known scammer, but apparently hard to track down/ catch /shuv in deep dark hole...
  7. I'd discounted acre negundo on account of the red stalks?? T
  8. There is a small spot in our spinney where we put stuff given to us, funky specimen trees and just stuff we don't know what else to do with. Yesterday I found this growing there and I've not a clue what it is! Suggestions gratefully received...
  9. True, but their ownership is far from completed, as they have some billions left to transfer I believe and the European antitrust people may have some issues still... So, true but entirely irrelevant for the next year or two probably,as they'll continue to operate as separate companies for a while.
  10. Pretty sure these have been specially developed to address the issue (as discussed in the other thread about) bars wearing too quick because they're too soft.
  11. Could well be him then. Nothing wrong with the horse, I'd just like to know how they get on as I quite like her. The horse is one off my mother in law's who met said Cumbrian by chance at a recent working horse event in Peterborough.
  12. We've tried recycled plastic, both round ones (2-3" -ish) and cross ones. Both were not suitable for stock wire. They're ok for electric fencing but the ones we tried were not worth their money. Too soft in the hot sun, and too brittle in the cold. Go for sweet chestnut or oak, should not be more expensive the the utter crap they dare sell nowadays and will last. Added bonus, you'll be likely to give your money to a smaller British company, doing good work in the woods.
  13. I've just read through the whole thread, I'm a bit disappointed. As a father of twin girls, one of the things I am most proud of about the way me and my wife raise them is that they are genuinely happy for other people when they (the other people) get / achieve something. This whole thread stinks of a wining child screaming "it's not fair". I'd like to help my kids in any way I can when they get to that sort of time in life, and if that includes handing them over my business I'd be proud and honoured to do so. What would be the alternative? Selling it to them? Really? And a point sorely missed in the " farm subsidies" ranting in this thread is why we (in Europe) have them. As a collection of nation Europe aims to be self-sufficient in food. It is both a bargaining aid (why buy foreign, we can grow it here.... Unless you drop your prices by a lot) and an insurance system. On top of that, the whole subsidies system "needs to be fair" so when Spanish sheep-farmers needed support or else entire regions of Spain were getting seriously de-populated with potentially disastrous consequences, all of the rest of European sheep farmers benefitted too. There's examples like that for nearly every branch of farming. Most farmers will happily give up all and any subsidies, as long as that the goes for all farming, Europe-wide at least. And finally, "self-made" or "handed down"??? None of your business!!!
  14. Same here; supermodel / gigolo. Or actually.... Same here; I shear too!
  15. Ted, you're a top bloke! That there tool is great! Well made and convenient sized to carry around etc. essential field tool-kit material! No, I'm not fishing for "special dispensation" I've got one already. Got mine of fr jones but I'm sure other retailers sell them too. Just wanted all to realise how great a gift that really is! ELG RULES.
  16. Just being curious, any one on here willing to admit to being the Cumbrian logger that's just bought a young Dales who goes by the name of Jess (the horse, not the guy)? Grapevine talk says its a Dan Southern or similar sounding name?
  17. I turned out Syrian! Best get my bulletproof vest on and start digging a shelter in the garden me thinks. I'm also just about spot on average for the Netherlands (which is home for me) which sits just 0.2 of a bmi point fatter than the Syrians on average.
  18. Mine is just back on, been off since about 11 yesterday. When I say back on, I can do data but no texts or calls yet. I have no landline so was a quiet night after the kids were in bed, wife is away. Just me, Henry Weston and a book.
  19. Ported my ms180 today! Widened the ports mainly, for a bit more grunt. Drilled out the exhaust and opened up the louvres as much as possible. All of those things would do no good on a standard 180 as the carb is not adjustable but I found and fitted a walbro 215 carb. A direct replacement, only needed to drill the holes through the cover, the filter already has a fitted bit of plastic to guide a screwdriver. It runs well, and sounds like a baby lion. Angry but little. Will borrow my neighbours' 180 one day this week and do some comparisons. It rained a lot today......
  20. Try Nick Channer on here. He's a timber mover and won't be too busy farming for a while (unless he's diversified into water-buffalo?) and he's in the right area as well.
  21. That's bad news indeed! Will keep an ear to the ground, but I suppose most of it if not all will be abroad by now. Hopefully you're well insured?
  22. The ms150 is on the Dutch stihl website, with an rrp of €444.- which equates roughly to an FR Jones price of £300-ish. On paper it does look like it would appeal to carvers but only has 1.0Kw, half the power of a half-decent electric saw. The vibes are listed as 4.9m/s both front and rear which I thought was mad high for such a little saw.
  23. I think I've seen a post by "cut4fun" that stated they are the same, same part numbers.
  24. pretty sure the word is "töricht"
