  1. When I did my signature link, I pasted the url in the pop-up dialog box, then click "ok" then the url comes up with the brackets and stuff around it and the bit to edit is highlighted so just typing there and then names your link. Hope that helps, Daniel
  2. Works for sig links for me... Now for finishing my own website.........
  3. I don't know if it'll work in a signature link as I don't have one, but I edit the url bit whilst typing in the normal reply, I don't "post and come back". I'll try a sig link now to see. Not sure if it's the same for all browsers either, I'm using firefox on a Macbook
  4. On my home turf in the Netherlands, my parents are fighting a lifelong battle against birch, and cannot get the buggers to die. Cut them down, graze the new shoots with sheep, they're invinceable. The only thing that seems to keep them down is to ringbark them with goats, the evillest form of livestock on the planet!
  5. I oil my plates and bowls (oak) with hot (70 C˚) sunflower oil.
  6. Where's Big J, he's of such epic proportions. I'm a modest 6'5" 16st of prime idiot with nicely common size 11 feet so never any issues.
  7. wher it says :URL="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall#!/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall"]http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall#!/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall[/url when you paste in a link, the second bit is what you see, so if you change that, you're sorted, like so URL=http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall#!/pages/Fairford-Tree-Services/194744040555105?sk=wall]Fairford tree services/URL comes up as: Fairford tree services
  8. Cheers, Not many life-size ones, mostly little statuette type things. Though he does own a few live-size ones that have been placed on a roundabout. They're big rounded granite boulders with greenish oxidized bronze heads and tails. I might see them later this week and try and take a picture if I do.
  9. I get the same service from my wife, free of charge!
  10. Nice one! What wool, sorry wood is it? Is it for sale, my dad loves sheep (no he's not Welsh) and collects them (he has about 1200 live ones and maybe 1000 artificially made ones)
  11. Ever drive on the 428 from Bedford to Cambridge? Massacre!
  12. Epic! tyre pinball madness!
  13. How did the fairy get pregnant? She sat on a toads tool. When's a fairy not a fairy? When she's got her head in a pixie's pants, then she's a goblin
  14. Yes, but though that affects it's mot and tax status it does not mean anyone can drive it I thought. Just Imagine the carnage possible with a 26T bucket truck and a 17yo
  15. Easiest is to check the tax disc I think, if it says "agricultural ........" and tax is £0.00 then it's a tractor and he'll be ok.
  16. I live near Sleaford in Lincs, on some of the most productive soil in the country. Last autumn wilst cycling my kids to school I got overtaken by a (fully ballasted) Xerion towing two arctic trailers on bogeys, they were loaded with wheat and both had a good head on them. Perhaps our local plod is not that well informed? I'd be more inclined to think they are well informed but don't give a toss! Just like the guy driving it!
  17. was it: No, women drive you to drink. Firewood has been my escape. ???:confused1:
  18. Have them wider at the exit side, a bit "fan-shaped" But even if they would get stuck, it would only matter for the very last log, as the next one would just push them through.
  19. I'm sure it would be cheaper to rent a helicopter for the day!
  20. What size are they? How were they stored?
  21. You're right, to import one would be madness. I have no intention of doing so though, I want to build one myself. I'd build it as a 3PL model, or a tractor-towed trailer. I was just curious if anyone has any experience with this type of splitter. I've been thinking about it for a while and had come up with something similar when I found this on ewe-tube. Surely somebody else has come up with something similar some time? Can you see any disadvantages?
  22. I reckon the wallpaper idea is least hassle. Stick some paper over the hole(s) maybe a pallet over it for a bit of protection and carry on! If they get through, the bees will have a chance and will easily find their way through the logs to get out once they're though the paper. If they get out a little quicker then you'd want them to, just ignore them. If you can try and avoid chucking a log right on their doorway they'll be fine. One of those tiny pallets will protect them easy enough. They won't do anyone any harm, apart from bumblebees being very docile, their ovipositor has not evolved into a sting like those on honeybees. So, the easy way: Just ignore them the "feel-good" way: Stick a bit of paper down. the money wasted, evil killer, dangerous way: burn them out. your choice... If they dont, you've not wasted a load of money and or time, but you can rest with the knowledge you've given them a fair chance.
  23. Not sure how it wil do with knotty stuff as never used one, on the 'tube vids it seems to laugh at aynthing they put on it though, and that includes some hefty oak. I think I remember seeing the selfpowered trailed one for sale for $9000.- wich is about £5500? But I think they're a fairly new company and do not offer export. They might do though.....
  24. Has anyone on here got any experience with tempest splitters or ones like it? Tempest Wood Splitter I'm looking to build a splitter and this seems the most efficient system to me, but I've never used one or even seen one in the flesh. There's a few vids on youtube that are quite impressive, but actual user experience would be appreciated. Thanks, Daniel
