  1. One day young apprentice, after years of dedicated practice, you too may learn to stack like the Master!
  2. Dear fellow arbtalkers, One of my log buyers has gone awol so I am re-opening my firewood offer to all you good folk. I like to spend my time in the wood so am selling my logs in bulk to other people who do the deliveries. It is all split and seasoned and 99.9% Ash. It is all split by me on a log splitter so no processor detritus. The logs are based in South Suffolk with excellent access. It would probably suit a relatively local log man, but I'm open to other arrangements. I would need no less than £65 per cubic mtr to be sustainable. Around here quality firewood sells for anything up to £130 per cube so there is money in it for someone. I currently have around 75 cube in stock and am aiming to double this in the next couple of months. I'm looking to set up a long term relationship with one or two people with more logs available year on year. Good communication and trust are key in these kind of relationships (I have been stung a couple of times in the past) so please PM me if you are A. Interested, and B. a good egg. All the best, TVI
  3. DOH! They don't call me VI for nothing! Silly Sally eh:001_smile: Sounds like my kinda' gal!
  4. It was a cracking game. Finished 6-5 to United. Frodo Baggins was running rings around the opposition, Sauron was shown a straight red for a vicious challenge on Sam Gangee. Gandalf got the last minute winner with a magical overhead screamer! Although he too was sent off for pulling his robes over his head and sprinting down the touchline in rather showy celebration!
  5. It was Ent United vs Mordor Academicals at the weekend. Looks like you caught the pre kick-off team huddle!
  6. I wonder if he was inspired by my childhood hero Mr Twit?
  7. Geoff, It's not just your truck that's full of peat. Can you unload your inbox at the same time?
  8. I don't see the problem. I'm sure Don Crush was very pleased with his package.
  9. Stick a load of water in the wheels too, makes a huge difference.
  10. They look a bit Mickey Mouse but punch well above their weight. The crane can lift some hefty stems. They can also get into awkward places. I have a small bridge linking the two halves of the woodland. It is only 6 foot wide but the tractor and trailer sailed over it. The only other extraction route is a long haul round on the road. You also get the reversible driving position, great for mowing or using a 3pl forklift. It takes about 10 seconds to switch the seat and steering console. On my old Carraro it takes about 10 minutes and at least 6 skinned knuckles!
  11. Yeah, I was really impressed. He crams a lot of timber onto that trailer, and it is the 50hp AGT rather than the more common (in my experience) 35hp model so he has that bit of extra oomph. I would love that set up too but don't have the testicles to take the plunge. Chris is coming back later this summer to help me with some more loads
  12. Had the pleasure of Chris Howard's company today at the wood (CHC on Arbtalk) with his new AGT alpine tractor and 3 ton timber trailer. He very professionally extracted loads of Ash timber for me leaving hardly a mark on the woodland floor. Chris hires himself out with his machines if anyone is in need of his services. The AGT is particularly well suited to wet and sensitive sites where standard tractors cause a lot of damage. He is also a top bloke and gets the idiot thumbs up from me:thumbup: A few piccies:
  13. We're planning to do the same, more or less. Perhaps we could compare notes?
  14. I'm not even going to grace that with a response. Oh Bugger!
  15. No worries, I love a good derail:001_smile:
  16. Do you always flounce your way into nightclubs Felix?
  17. Rule number 1: Never invite an imp to your stag do!
  18. Worse than Wizards!!! Don't be ridiculous man!
  19. Could be emperor moth although I have just read the crysalis tends to be pear shaped and there's no mention of gold! Re. the knot holes. Remind me never to give you a tour of the wood!
  20. To be honest I don't really believe in ridiculous fantasy woodland lifeforms, but both the elves and the wood imps from the old alder stool swear blind that they have seen fairies, and I take their word as gospel.
  21. Don't think so. This has no scent, I am told fairy turds smell of custard creams.
  22. Took the cover off my log splitter yesterday and found this mysterious little nugget. It's not a great picture but it is very uniform and appears to be woven from sparkly golden thread. Anyone in the know?
  23. That looks great, puts me in mind of an active moon from some far flung unknown corner of the galaxy! (No alternative 'active moon' pictures please you lot) I'll take some pictures of the burls I know about in the wood and you can let me know if they would be suitable for you.
  24. Are you willing to pay for material? I have the biggest burl you are ever likely to see growing on an Ash in the wood. Can almost certainly find others too.
