    Zombie apocalypse

I'm waiting for the next stage of Walking Dead - where EVERYTHING goes zombie and nothing dies.
  2. The chain could be Windsor, which is a Canadian brand. Dunno if they or Carlton made their chains in Canada. Oddly enough, Windsor also made 404 chain in .058 gauge.
  3. 7.1KG is 15.65 lbs. My 385xp was nowhere near that.

    365 Replacement

The port work made it all nice and sunny out.
  5. I think there's no doubt that it will perform as well as the other auto tunes once the bugs are out. I, too, would wait a bit before I went with one.
  6. The 261 C-M is considerably stronger and more responsive than it's non M-Tronic brethren. I am interested in seeing how it works on the new 661. Also, the 661 is supposed to be lighter and now with spring AV.

Back in Texas we refer to that as the pickup.

I sorta miss that saw. But I ended up going with modded 372's since due to the far better AV, and slightly less weight. I said summer in the post previous. I meant winter! It was 0 for a high some days. Not too long ago I was bucking a few logs that a storm had brought on to a buds bayou. They were both saw logs - 4' X 50' that must have been submerged from a logging operation decades earlier. There was no way to get them out of where they lodged by using machinery or even horses. And the river was going to swell again and risk taking those logs away. So, I went in and bucked them as large as we could handle, and quartered a few while standing in freezing water in the sleet, and then moving the chunks by hand up to a landing. After an entire day of that, I decided to go with a 372 for the AV. I could barely open my hands. The spalting of the douglas fir from sitting under water for whoever knows how long was literally awesome. Lots of dark purples and reds and neon pinks. Much of it turned into furniture and exposed rafters and joists, decking and benches, etc. Good lookin saw though"
  9. Could it already be the tank vent?
  10. MS 441 R C-M STIHL Magnum® Chainsaw - Professional Use Chainsaws | STIHL USA Mobile Is the saw they come on as standard(but can be ordered from the dealer as an accessory). They are supposedly more robust as well.

Nice one! Get the dual port muffler if it doesn't have it - makes a huge difference. I spent a good part of a summer in Oregon on a landing cross cutting logs with an 046mag. After a few days, I could barely feel my fingers for the vibration and the cold.
  13. I haven't had to use a wedge to buck wood since I was 19. That was back when Reagan was president and you were about to retire.
  14. I used to do that. Last time I did it, I had to order the replacement part from the US. You'd be amazed how far a clutch can jettison when you have a plastic clutch cover.
  15. A good deal of posters on AS are not professionals. In fact, even some of the porters are not professionals, but tinkerers. So, yeah, there is a lot of discourse...usually started by SawTroll, tho.
  16. It's a hedge and conifers for limited work to start, not oak and beech all day long for felling and boxing. A 261CM with a laminated bar and 325 chain will do the work fine. If it can't, you're doing something wrong, or you may want to join a gym.
  17. And in the field, in a pinch, you can use your own starter cord. Like when SawTroll inevitably gets his bar caught whilst boxing...
  18. Top handles are dangerous enough for pruning, let alone hedges. Let's face it, it's safer and easier to use a small standard saw. I've used a 50cc saw with an 18" 325 bar on hedges with ease. He is going to go about it more safely than a simple ladder, so I see no reason to limit himself with a top handle if he is also going to use it for other work. Most decent 50cc saws can pull 18" of RSC bar thru conifers if you aren't ham-fisted. In any case, it sounds like he can do a 16" for most of his work, so he shouldn't have any issues finding a 50cc STIHL saw to suit his needs. The new 261 CM-Tronic is trickling out, and should be less than 6 bills.
  19. It isn't a bad saw for a 60cc saw. It's just behind the 560/562 and weighs more.
  20. There are two different 365's. The old style is a 65cc standard two stroke design. The 365xt new version is a 71cc strato-charged design. A new 365xt will easily out cut a 555, and do it with much more bar on it. Having said that, unless the price is good, I would wait to see what sort of AT answer Husqvarna is about to release in the 70cc category to replace the first gen AT in the 576's. The MS362 is a non m-tronic, first gen strato design. It is heavy and sluggish by current standards. I would expect an M-Tronic version shortly to better compete with the 560's.
  21. They aren't even remotely related. We're talking 555 VS 560 here. The Rancher was a non-sequitor.
