  1. That's approaching the correct amount of fat.
  2. Leylandii and eucalyptus are a great mix for the same reason. And euc crumbles into lovely coals.
  3. Get you a girl that does both.
  4. Did enjoy a little festive sherry. FullSizeRender.MOV
  5. I basically ignored it and forgot it. A friend and his son dropped in late afternoon. While discussing something next week, I looked at the date on my watch and said, “Right. Well it’s the 25th today.” Neil stares. ”No shit, mate.” Made a little festive effort for a gig last night. For the scene kids.
  6. "I'm not going to get into any arguments... but this is my firmly held belief and if yours differs, let's fxckin' dance."
  7. Blocks the pampas.
  8. Ish. Anyone can complain but my sympathy diminishes when the complainant goes on to then defend the source of their trouble.
  9. You only have this problem of wealthy predators backdooring into the state if you have a state. Shut it.

Sailor’s prolific (voluminous) shitting came to an end when I shut the door to the room the food sacks are kept in. The thieving bastard had helped himself to about fifteen supplementary kilos over a week or two.

Careful with that turn of phrase.
  13. That is a fycking disgrace.
  14. Aldi keep moving the cheese.
  15. peds has his on a sling between bridge and bottom swivel so it's at head height and he can pull with both hands from underneath. He's talking about hand wrap(s) outside of the weighted bit of system.
  16. Playing devil's advocate, you could even say wrapping you hand under a zigzag is safer. When the links shatter, at least you'll be stuck up the tree with your hand hurting like hell as opposed to on the floor with your spine hurting like hell.
  17. There are two, overlapping arguments here: 1. If you're going to hip thrust, do or don't wrap your hand. I haven't got a problem with it. It'll reduce grip fatigue and the chance of getting caught is low (unlike rigging, where hand wrapping really is dangerous). BUT 2. You shouldn't be hip thrusting. It's hard as hell and foot ascenders are cheap as hell. They're not even life support so you could buy a chinese one if you really wanted to save a tenner.
  18. Did you think I was joking about the bathcast?
  19. I assume the DEFRA visit was for the tree one.
  20. What’s your degree in, Mark? Poisonous pets an interesting thing btw. Never thought of that.
  21. We came to the end of my woodworking knowledge two posts ago.
  22. Get a penknife and go to whittle something. Now scrape with it instead. Congratulations. You're scraping.
  23. No further risks today but greater further risks in future when it's dead and rotting or has regrown ten tops. Not to mention they'll have to get to the base of the tree again, which was a significant part of the battle. But let's be real. This is probably dolescum work. They'll be competitively doing as little as possible, some just because that's the type of lazy shovel-leaners or malicious-compliers they are and some because they actively want to come back to it and do it again and get paid again. And sod that habitat bollocks. What's eco about sending a team back to do 196% of the work instead of the team there now doing 104% of the work? Nothing. Just a waste of fuel everyone driving back and forth to work when the job could have already been done.
  24. This is a good thread. I don't know enough to contribute meaningfully but I make most tree decisions with, "Man plans and god laughs." as a starting point. Rob Rainford posted a long time ago about pruning affecting the mechanical characteristics of unions and collections of unions, weight being thrown back and forth, twanginess etc. All about how one thing can have three dimensional knock-on effects. Really interesting. Must find it. @RobRainford
  25. Do you scrape? I've got great finishes on hard woods, scraping.
