  1. Side topic. What are oval biners even for? I had to paint the opening ends of mine the other day after getting so annoyed trying to open the ****************ers.

    What do you want; royalties?

Just took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together. You have to clock the oiler so the hole in it, not the slot, lines up with the hole in the plastic saw body. See the notch/slot end opposite it in this picture. You also have to press it in to the correct depth so the aforementioned holes line up. I did some clever measuring and set a nut as a depth stop. Anyway. That didn’t work because I clearly measured something wrongly so I just pushed it the whole way and it works now.

  5. Same cost as a bottle of supermarket cider every night instead. That's no coincidence.
  6. A mate was telling me about a new bloke he's just found who sorts out his back. "£40. Nothing seedy." Considering the word 'bloke,' I'd hope not.

@peds Ever tried collar on one, harness on another to balance an imbalance?
  8. For me, no different most of the time. Occasionally glitchy and slow but I'm on gash internet here so wouldn't lay the blame confidently at your door.
  9. Sorry. It's often that I'm talking about the same thing across several threads, which will be confusing I grant you. In this instance, it's just testing a splice I made up the page here. I used a ratchet strap to pull it. I pulled it to 800 ish kilos. Someone told me they've managed to pull 1000 ish kilos with a ratchet strap. I think the reason I wasn't able to pull quite as much as them is that I had several wraps on the ratchet strap axle, increasing its effective radius, which decreases its pulling power.
  10. I'm very seriously asking myself whether arbtalk is still worth what I pay for it.
  11. Bullman but in reverse. Because he fuxking can, that’s why. It’s not always going back to the point I left the new posts list now btw, Steve. Sorry.
  12. Which incidentally I pulled on with a standard 5 tonne ratchet strap. I’m reliably informed you can hit a tonne with less on the axle. I can very easily believe it.
  13. "Kids. See those vans parked in that layby?" Tip the wife a crafty wink.

    ArbDogs? Pics!

Fluffy one is ten and less well trained. Scrawny one is three, also barely trained. I'd say who was in charge but it occurs to me that I don't know anything about dogs. Let’s say me. The bolas lead is an act of pragmatism over discipline. Scrawny Sailor stands a pretty good chance of coming back under neutral conditions, where fluffy Mecho wouldn't. If they trip over a deer/hare, Sailor will chase but Mecho is a deadweight anchor and the lead would probably catch them on trees. You get 30-40 minutes before Mecho has had enough of being pulled around. It's not perfect.

That’s another thought. I have a 230 here I can look at if I want to take that apart (which I don’t). Thanks for help. Until morning.

Video not visible if there's meant to be one. I suspect you're right about going all the way in. Will inspect saw in daylight and scale the photo of the seating tool to see if that gives any hints.

I wasn’t clever enough to do that.
  19. I gave up on technical clothing a few years ago. Replaced it with occasionally suffering or more usually working less hard.
  20. I imagine Les’s wife match funds whatever his employer pays for nights away.
  21. Even in summer?
