My house is a bloody disgrace. Sawdust, grimy arb sediment, not being arsed to take boots off etc. My selection of domestic hoovers doesn't touch it. What's a decent industrial one that will do medium duty shedwork and extremely heavy duty housework? £2-300, new or second hand. None of this modern, eco-friendly, low powered motor nonsense. The job needs horsepower.

Calm down, you southern drama queen. You live on a swamp in Kent. It's just a tree in a nice place, sycamores are ten a penny and it's only famous for being in a Kevin Costner film. In about three days, the locals will go back to buying Lindisfarne mead (probably made in Northampton from Latvian honey) and wondering at the rich history of Beamish museum.

2.5 engines are good. Make sure it has an undertray. Without one, the auxiliary belt tensioners fall apart quickly. The handbrake will drag until you modify the calipers. Luckily calipers are also cheap.

A condiment breakthrough. Doing a posh fry up to put the criminals Doug occasionally posts about to shame. Wanted a bit of slaz for the spinach. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar the obvious choice. I mixed it up in an egg cup yesterday because that was the closest thing to hand but it didn’t have the space to whip the liquids together. A finished ketchup bottle means I can shake it to emulsion AND salvage the dregs of ketchup. A cracking little hack. No fuucks given about the dirty plate. I have an immune system that means I’ll outlive you tedious puritans, decadently.

Next day. Let it idle down for five minutes after a heavy six litres’ cutting. Two stroke bike riders hit the kill (and pull the clutch in) at full chat to get the truest plug reads. I’ve changed it back over to motomix now. Will have a look after next run.

The green has got to be copper. A mate suggested it might be added to fuel instead of lead as an antiknock additive. Can't find anything to support that but apparently there's a bit of copper in petrol anyway.

Never seen a green plug before. What does it mean? Plug has just had a heavy ish couple of weeks in a 661. Pump petrol and Stihl Ultra, mixed a tiny bit rich, very fresh.

No Muscadet. Luckily I remembered that white wine is just white wine and approximated with a Chenin Blanc. Dog rough. I expect better when I spend the extra 9p over the habitual £4.

I've been all but off the booze for a couple of months now. Not enjoying red like I have done for 25 years and it's not agreeing with me. Beer and cider fine, sherry tolerable (except the sugar, which even zombifies me if I eat too many sweets). Aren't I delicate. Haven't had a gin and tonic for ages. Must check I can still drink those.
