  1. So by my maths (nowt to be proud of) .. a builders bag .66 cubic meters would require 3.2m lengths of 800mm stock fencing. (Using a builder's bag amount as ppl can visualise it).
  2. dunno about the gabions for wood ..but i love the gabion fencing idea...(on that site)
  3. Has anyone made a kindling knife for their splitter. I have a 7 ton horizontal splitter that i don't use for logs anymore and am thinking of using it to split coni into kindling. Show me yours
  4. Back weight on the avant 420 is 29 kg , each side weight (2) is 80kg. Plus you can fill the tyres with water antifreeze ... someone tell me how you do that pls.
  5. I agree. A very useful thread. Thank you all involved.
  6. Unfortunately it all boils down to price. Green is cheaper than blue (so far in my experience) .. unless you'd like to change that ... (and i have a green dealer about 20 mins away should things go wrong) .. but I've not signed anything yet.
  7. Are you referring to the "grapple bucket" and "silage grab". Am looking at machines and attachments at the moment and want to get the useful ones.
  8. Please check out our history in the industry on our website and Facebook page.... which is ... ?
  9. Hi, Anyone got a tracked chipper 6" + available for a job on sheppey.. Manned or unmanned. Text me please 07828 19oo66 with price. Thank you. Job will probably happen in the new year .. just looking for prices. Thanks.
  10. Was the floating boom option installed on the machine? If you had to use an aerator regularly would you buy the attachment or buy a dedicated machine?
  11. Im in east malling too. When you get your tickets let me know I'll sort you out with some days.
  12. Oh .. and welcome to the best low paid job there is.. been pissed wet thru today and insulted by someone who proves money cant buy happiness .. and im still smiling [emoji6]
  13. Kingswood courses are good. There are other providers available locally too (chippings tree surgery/ east malling research centre/ hadlow etc... Work experience easy ... put your details on here or email local companies. Its busy time at the moment ... but it will quiet down in the new year (well it does for me). Depends how far you want to travel for the work. Im local to you and work for people in sevenoaks....
  14. Thats good to know ... the mo has a lawn aerator but avant doesnt.
  15. 4,300 + v for the 260 (+ del).
  16. @gdh ...thanks ... can you put that video up ... i think i see chip on the wrong side of the belt
  17. How much was the tiermec pls?
  18. Thanks guys.. yeah i guess its more suited to hedgerows more than (large) domestic yew and coni. As an aside - how do you price up using a 'hydrostatic tool carrier' vs man power.. is it simply a case of .. if i was doing it by hand it would take X hours .. with my machine i can do it 6 times quicker but still charge the manual rate or lower .. asking cos i'm getting a 'hydrostatic tool carrier' soon. "Biggest problem is the finger bar is single sided so you can't go back the other way, which I think would solve the problem." The slanetrac sa 800 is reversible .. so you can go back against the cut. My biggest fear is .. one nudge of the steering wheel .. and goodbye years of hard work getting a neat hedge
  19. I'm thinking about getting a standalone conveyor to load logs into truck. Could i also use the conveyor to move chip too (from the large pile into truck) or will it f**k up? I don't have a digger or anything before anyone says anything. I'm just wondering if the 1 machine could do 2 things? Ta.
  20. Anyone use a hedge cutter / finger bar on the avant ? Either avants own or slanetrac? Am interest to know what the finish is like on the hedge .. comparable to hand held hedge cutter or better or worse. The avant finger bar is a bit pricey, don't know about the slanetrac yet. Thanks
  21. how much .. if its not a rude question (for the machine and the attachment serarately) .. just want an idea before i let the moths free.
  22. i'm in love .. a dumper ... log shifter .. stump grinder ... leaf vacuum .. all in a small package .. thanks transplanted
  23. A client has a row of conifers at the end of the garden next to a railway line. They dont provide any sound or visual protection. Has anyone left the stems and erected an acoustic barrier rather than fell and put a fence up? If so what did you use? Thanks Sent from my SM-J320FN using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. not dangerous - just costly if you follow the instructions they give ...! its annoying, but you can just close the page without shutting down - but you have to be quick. close the message box, then close the page before the message reappears. yes me too only on arbtalk - usually without me logging in (ie going straight in from a google search), but has happened once while i was logged in.
