  8. yes i would also agree with that" & with a home made 11hp 30 ton ish splitter with the engine plodding uses about 5ltrs a day petrol and all arbwaste rings upto 4ft die and some of its really tough to chomp up so i just slice it up with the chainsaw smaller etc then use it on my own fire as the knotty stuff burns really well

  15. i'vv had a mooch on the net but cant find any info regarding when my stihl 024 was manufactured when new as it would be nice to know how old it is. I would of thought there would be a engine number table on how to tell etc. As my serial number is 127578115 but unsure how to read the numbers to work out the year so would be grateful for ant help thanks
  16. you can leave the oil in if it does'nt leak>>> as for petrol all i've ever done is store them full so there is less air for the fuel to go stale but tip it out for my old lawnmower and refill and give it a run/warm up every now n then to purge fresh fuel/mix through the carb etc but ideally you could use aspen as a occasional user for firewood
  17. SET FIRE TO IT STANDING LOL it'll go up like a roman candle my mate did it to his and it made flames higher than his house he **** himself as it melted the plastic guttering i was crying laughin at him when he told me what he had done to get rid he was doing a search of his loft space for fire n smoke when i turned up to visit him one sunday morning and the tree was black burned bald lol his eyes were out on stalks when he came out of his loft i could'nt stop laughing at him
  18. also the hardness/grade of steel/ temper and some are chrome steel coated for longevity so its a minefield what file to choose i use oregon & save edge but i lean more to use save edge they seem to be less skiddy and take more off on each stroke so quicker to touch my chains up and crack on etc i use full chisel oregon multicut chrome steel chains as i'am ringing up dirty/muddy arb waste etc
