  1. Thank you for your service and your wife's continued service. I believe your experience and discipline will serve you well. You are entering a highly competive work environment so you will need to be patient and work hard at your schooling. I wish you the best. easy-lift guy
  2. Morton, the UK is not the most heavily taxed country in Western Europe. It has a ways to go before it catches up with other Northern European nations. My point is that all of the country's in Europe including the UK are over taxed and regulated, IMO. This will continue to strangle production and service oriented businesses. easy-lift guy
  3. Happy Birthday, Sir. easy-lift guy
  4. The subject matter is related. Try reading the entire thread. You just might be able to understand and learn more at the same time. easy-lift guy
  5. LOL, you do have a sence of humor:thumbup1:. I did visit the UK last year for 10 days had a great time. Paid all my expenses including all taxes. No complaints. I remember when the VAT was at 17.5% and how there was a surge in buying before it moved up to 20%. I believe that when taxes are raised this has a cause and effect reaction. As another member has already rendered another opinion regarding this matter, perhaps he hardly has a comprehensive say in the matter:sneaky2:. easy-lift guy
  6. Morton, how about a 20 % VAT TAX, on nearly every transaction:thumbdown: Maybe the super high fuel taxes:thumbdown:. Nothing to make up, or perhaps your so use to high taxes on so many things another opinion where taxes are very low in comparison does not compute? FYI, I have visited the UK last year and I can vouch for my opinion. easy-lift guy
  7. Happy BD Dean. Manny Happy Returns! easy-lift guy
  8. Seems to me that H&S is calling the shots for more mandatory training or else. I agree with Andy that an entire reboot of the training and testing procedure take place. Cut away the fat, waste, rubber stamping of canadiates for the sake of maintain a high passing rate. My opinion about government in general ties into the overall scheme of things. I believe most folks see or have seem the results of more government intervention and regulation and the associated increased cost of all levels of production. This in turn causes everything else to increase as well. A vicious circle. My opinion about the current government in power is one more example of more of everything cost everyone dearly. I do not believe there would be a free for all under any circumstances in this industry if the repetition and fat was cut out and replaced with meaningful and functional means of testing and evaluating the end user. Sometimes if little Billy's dad exercised some common sence, responsibility trips to the ER or coming home in a box could be prevented. easy-lift guy
  9. More government ='s more expense, which in turn equals less freedom and more tyranny. It is a slow and painful process to see this in other country's much less my own. Since I do not believe it is the responsibility of any government much less our Two mutual governments to baby sit and coddle from cradle to grave, I believe I can understand where you come from. I suspect your suggestion about regulating certain rogues in the Arb industry may be well intended, however with selective enforcement practices from the Police not being able or willing to become involved leads me to believe it would be all for not. easy-lift guy
  10. I believe H&S are financed by the tax payers in the UK just like over here with OSHA in the US. If you follow the money you may discover that funding for all government function comes from taxes collected or levied against citizens or businesses. Now if the government provided at no charge to the public this training to "protect people", I could except your opinion. Seems like H&S is forcing citizens to comply or else, protect people or another layer of government control?. I can still remember when most folks could and would look out for them selfs. Those were the days:thumbup1: easy-lift guy
  11. Unless the courses and all the administration needed to make this happen is FREE, it has everything to do with additional spending and possible waste of funds. IMHO the UK is the most heavily regulated and taxed country in the Western world, although some folks in power over here can't seem to tax enough, thats another thread:sneaky2:. Having additional regulation and over lapping more rules and regs over and over is pretty much insane, and use less to boot! easy-lift guy
  12. This may be true, however that alone has never been an excuse for the Goverment to tell whom ever to bend over and hold your ankles:sneaky2: easy-lift guy
  13. Nice pictures Matt. About time Spring has Sprung round your neck of the woods! easy-lift guy
  14. From September 1st 1939 until the beginning of 1990 my ancestral land was under dictatorship rule. I witnessed first hand my cousins actually voting for candidates in the first free election in 50+ years. Now this story, although true may not mean much to some, for my family and their children it was a C change of epic per portions. Bottom line, there are always others from different lands and languages and cultures that have it worse than many others. Voting is a right and privilege, exercise both with great care. easy-lift guy
  15. This situation is not uncommon at all. In some elections I have seen opposition canadates bail at the last minute, reasons vary from health, family obligations and still others will throw in the towel at the 11th hour, and quit or throw their support in favor of their opponent. easy-lift guy
  16. Andy, You Sir are spot on. One with out health has nothing at all. Take care of your self, and try not to be so hard on the doctors opinion, he may have saved your life in the process:thumbup1: easy-lift guy
  17. Having the right and prilivage to vote is very often taken for granted in many country's where elections are still held. Just because a person is running for office and has not had a chance to meet folks in person, does not make him or her any less qualified to run for office. Being an informed voter is one thing, knowing the canadate for yourself is more important. Make the effort and Vote. easy-lift guy
  18. Yes. I shall be attending and demoing the Easy-Lift Harness at the Arb and Forestry show this coming July 26/27 in Kent. Looking forward to this event and packing nice weather as well. All the best. easy-lift guy
  19. Craobh, John runs everything off of cider, ask his labor doodle who I have been told taste test every run of Cider:thumbup1: easy-lift guy
  20. Curious how you came about your opinion that the removal of said tree has no adverse affect to the value of the home?. From an esthetic point of view the tree was a main feature of the landscape. The planter bed was over grown, however the OP did sustain damages due the neglect of the tenant. Removing the tree and leaving a stump in the front yard immediately causes the value of this property to go down due to first impressions of any would be buyer or listing agent. easy-lift guy
  21. Tenants can be very selfish. I believe Felix is correct based on the law as it is written. The only problems I see include any additional damages and losses that can be claimed out of the security deposit. What happens if there are additional losses that exceed the deposit total?. Tenants over here can and will destroy a property from within and out and never give any consideration about the fact that they do not own the property, they just think they do!. easy-lift guy
