Morrisons to create new milk brand for framers
easy-lift guy replied to mendiplogs's topic in The Lounge
Seemingly creating a new brand of a common stable is just like using the phrase new and improved one to many times. This plan appears to be a marketing ploy and PR Stunt being pulled off by the Yorkshire based grocery store chain. Until free market forces come to bare on this pricing problem at all levels of production and consumption all bets are off. Not all businesses are to big or small to fail. Some business only exist due to government intervention. Supporting local business is all well and good, however at the cost of the consumer paying more the lower price in the end will win out. As stated before by other members, if the general consuming public knew or even cared about all of the waste they maybe would have a different opinion, or maybe not? easy-lift guy -

So I am really glad you had a happy ending in spite of the fact that it was your fault!, with a minor assist from the French. Nearly any car here stateside has a filler spout and neck specific to the type of fuel used. Last 3 visits I made to the UK the cars were all disel and it was not possible to put anything other than disel into the tank?, they were all were peugeots. easy-lift guy -
I believe the majority of the working people of the UK want to pay a fair price for goods and services. This is possible as long as the working folks out number the non or under working folks. When the takers out number the working makers economies and society start to go into a death spiral that generally is difficult if not impossible to recover from much less survive from. Eliminate all subsidized living standards and other gimmicks and everyone will pay the actual cost for goods and services. Of course all wages would increase as well. Here's the catch, the takers would have no choice but to become makers. This I estimate would take at least 3 generations to set right, however I believe that if the makers continue to out number the takers it is possible, if not all bets are off on either side of the pond! easy-lift guy

Egg, I get it:thumbup1: If the farmers that Jon is referring to receive no government support at all and are loosing money on goods sold on the open market these dairy farmers need to find another trade. I am reasonably certain that unless these smaller dairy farmers are independently wealthy which they may be, producing any goods or services for less than the market will bare can only support it's self for so long, with out government support. I find it very distressing when my government acts just as irresponsible by paying farmers of all sorts to produce certain crops in certain amounts at certain times of the year. Case in point would be Corn farmers in Iowa growing a food crop to produce ethanol :thumbdown::thumbdown: With government support smaller and larger companies can and do kick the can down the road as long as the funding or tax credits are available. Sooner or later the government cow runs out of milk or money which one comes first remains to be seen. easy-lift guy

Think about your reply. Since I was commenting about this current situation in the UK and if you choose to read some of my additional comments or knew anything about me you may discover that besides a common language both countries face and deal with similar economic issues on a daily basis. The U.S. Has all of the above times a Thousand mainly due to a larger population and markets overall. Personally I feel the same way about government waste and social welfare programs that are in nearly every case a total waste of tax payers monies:thumbdown: Hope you know a little more about me and my opinions on this subject matter. easy-lift guy

The Key is the subsidies. If more of your countrymen and women really knew how much waste takes place daily they would be sickened beyond belief. Removing said price supports and subsidies would be the key to helping the producers and consumers, not that the government does not want to help the producers and consumers, the government gets there controlling interest covered always up front. FYI stopping the milk production even for a few days would also be meaningless since I am sure all excess milk and milk by products is purchased by the government for later use and or waste:thumbdown: easy-lift guy

The term loss leader is somewhat dubious. Claiming lost leaders by selling products at cost or below cost is actually not true since all chains fudge the numbers to cover the actual cost of products purchased from suppliers and in turn sold to consumers. What one has to understand is that grocery stores sell thousands of products at fractional percentages to earn either a gross or net profit. Most of the better run grocery stores here state side opperate at slightly above a net profit after all expenses. The lesser more poorly run chains tend to feed off one another and the quality of product and price for goods speaks for it's self. Because the British Government heavily subsidizes many different industries the true cost to produce say a liter of milk will never be known by the general public and quite honestly if said price was stated with no price supports in place or imports of milk from other countries the milk industry would dry up very quickly. Allowing price supports or quotes to come into play along with importing milk and milk products from other countries only makes matters worse for the english producers and consumers. Since the government has the ability to control supply and demand by artificial creating demand for goods and services by way of quotes and price supports the plight of the producers of finished goods and consumers of said goods will always be in doubt. The stores and the producers are part of the problem and since the citizens seem oblivious to the consequences of their actions or lack there of, the status quo will continue until the country either runs out of natural resources or funds to keep everyone fat and sassy. When that happens things really start to become interesting:sneaky2: easy-lift guy

Having the farmers come into stores to presumably purchase all stores of product is pure folly. Price supports and quotas have not and will not ever work. Pretending there is no inflation and artificially supporting prices for the sake of one special interest group promotes and encourages crony capitalism at its worst. Allowing the free market to charge a profitable price and than in turn all levels of the market actually charging what it cost to produce the milk would be an eye opener for sure, however I am talking realville here and sadly on either side of the Atlantic economics is not taught any more. Better for the government to keep up appearances for the masses of asses, sadly. easy-lift guy

Personally if he was hungry I would have taken him out to dinner, however he would have to leave the bottle of wine in the nearest trash can first. People make choices every day in every way. Although you had just finished your dinner earlier possible taking him out for dinner migh have encourage the young man to open up a bit and in turn helped him to find a better direction for the future. The fact that you worked for his father only makes the decision harder, at least Karen made an effort and. I am sure he appreciated the kindness as did I. I hope he find a better path for his future. easy-lift guy

Joe, my family emigrated from Eastern Europe in the early 20th century to excape the early stages of Socialism and all its horrible consequences. They had a choice they took a chance and left for a better life under capaltism. They made a better life for my 6 Uncles and 1 Aunt that they would have never known or lived in Eastern Europe. My 1st and 2nd cousins did not have the chance and lived under two dictatorships for 60 years. I have a really keen appreciation of what my family lived through and under during this period of time under a socialist governments. I am all for capatilism because it is based on being self sufficient and a really strong desire to make a better life for ones self and family and society. Perhaps your definition of socialism is different than mine, however I suspect you could not surrive and endure and ultimately achieved what my family has, especially in the last 25 short years:thumbup1: FYI, I have visited my family twice in my life time once when the last dictatorship was voted out of office and the last time last year. Personally I could not be more proud of what they have been able to accomplish and achieve as a people and a country. easy-lift guy

Well personally I believe the workers in that bucket lift should be using Easy-Lift Harnesses as well. With regards to the owner of the property buying up other property with their own money and doing with it what she wants to, I say good for her. The owner as proved to be accomplished Entrepreneur and Capitalist. I can't think of one socialist that can claim any economic success at all. easy-lift guy

Gixer, if you want non ethanol fuel for your saws, try any marinas. As a matter of practice they only use non ethanol fuel due to boat motors that can not use ethanol fuel. The pre mixed fuel and oil combo containers are gaining popularity, however you will pay a premium by US standards for the convenience. Some of your Husqvarna machines may be specific for EU market so that may explain why your having difficulty securing comparable models. Send me a pm if you like since I may be able to help you find what your looking for being in country. All the best easy-lift guy

Katie, do you know if the juices from this plant material are alkaline based?. Reason being round these parts century plants also have a nasty chemical based reaction to skin. An antidote for contact with these plant juices include applying lemon juice followed by greapfruit juice and followed by orange juice. By applying each in order the ph is gradually lowered with simple soap and water to finish up with usually the burning and burns subside within a few hours. Simple soap and water makes every thing feel nearly normal afterwards. easy-lift guy

I am well and likewise I am sure. Been really busy and no rain in nearly 3 weeks. I understand that I hail from the sunshine state and all that, but no rain for this long is just to hot and dry. My lawn is burning up slowly and I am missing mowing my own lawn:001_huh:. Maybe the sun has been a little strong this summer. Take care. easy-lift guy
