  1. I'd be fantastic to have a busman's holiday! I've worked all over the UK, family ties stop me trying to emigrate , but i reckon my wife wouldn't mind a month in NZ, who knows, she might even want to live there!!!
  2. I'll pm you the number of a guy who may be interested.
  3. Try Nick Channer dude, he's on this site and may take the timber. Good Luck and hope things work out for you.
  4. They're both fine, came home on monday, we're all knackered though! It was an ordeal that i hope i dont have to go through again, dont know how i'd have coped without gas n air!!

  5. Hi Nick

Lara had a girl on sunday afternoon, after a hellish 38hr labour! She's gorgeous and luckily doesn't look like me!!!

    Cheers

    Mike

  6. Most of the time i can ignore it but occassionaly it does my head in, high pitched squeeling! Didn't know ear wax could cause it though. Could do with my lugs syringing i reckon!
  7. I've got a double drum, 3t per drum winch on my Case, pto driven and mounted via the 3 point linkage. It's plenty big enough, no more difficult to remove or hook onto than a topper! It has a decent back plate so skidding isn't a problem.
  8. Thanks Matt Where would be the best place to go, in your opinion, to obtain a PTS ticket? I think it would be a strong benefit to me and possibly open a few more doors! Mike
  9. Rowan or any birch, both fast growing, trouble with the birch is that it'll die off! What about a cedar?

    Windy Day?

I believe you can register/give your details to the police to be called out on emergency tree work. Not sure what the full details are, might be worth starting a new thread as I'm sure some one on the forum will know Just phone the police ( non emergancy line) they'll add you to their contacts list, they'll ask what you can do and what you charge per hour.
  16. And thats the end of the thread! Can't top that one
  17. Lol, I'm not after a contract, its just so suprising to be paid wot most climbers deserve to be paid. We've all worked for guys that just want to make a buck or ten fron us, its refreshing to meet someone who understands the job and doesn't make you feel resentful!
  18. I've just done 2 days work for a guy on this site. The first day i felt that i didnt earn my money! Today, i felt i did, but was then given an extra 20 quid! I couldnt believe it! I have always felt under valued when employed by other people but today i can honestly say that i felt guilty accepting the money! Especially ater the job was called of on Monday and anyone could have topped that hedge! I hope i get to work with him again, he's got good lads too!
  19. I'm only winding him up, I was referring more to his little plot..... the graveyard and sometimes nursing home for old vw's Its quite a nice city as cities go!
  20. Before i got into tree work i worked for Lord Mountbatten, not the famous one but Lord Ivor Mountbatten who holds the title now. Repointed the chimneys at Birdbrook, lovely guy, he used to bring us tea when we were up the scaffolding:thumbup: Tree wise, i've topped the conifers right behind Red Rum's stable for Ginger Mcaine, he asked if we'd mind doing a cash job while doing powerline clearance through his land.
  21. Yeah Westonbirt is a grand place The acers there are fantastic! Great place to take the dog for a walk I think the entry fee is over the top though considering it FC
