    Surrey

Hi All I'm looking to move to Surrey asap but this is obviously dependant on work. Ideally i'd like climbing work but i'm happy to do most things. I hold the relevant nptc tickets and have 10 years climbing and forestry experience. Full time work would be perfect but anything that would give me a run of work is equally as good. I've got strong personal reasons for wanting to move so i wont let anyone down who can give me a chance. Thanks Mike
  3. could you use a climber and a groundie???
  4. Hi Dave,

I keep on noticing your posts for climbers., cutters n machine ops etc. My oppo and i are now going to travel about n go where the work is, we're based in suffolk but can get anywhere at a days notice. We both have over 10 years industry experience , fully ticketed n insured.

    Thanks

    Mike

  5. Outrageous!! I've signed and posted to my fb page. Dont know what else to say, our immigration system is certainly screwed up! Good Luck
  6. chainsaw cut to my left wrist, through my own stupidity and fustration with clematis. Managed to get myself out of the tree, lads on the ground patched me up and took me to a+e. Quite a few silky cuts though! Bloomin things are lethal! I think they are programmed to be attracted to thumbs!
  7. Prussic, Blimey i still use a blakes hitch! Can't be doing with this new fangled stuff, like all technology it's something else to worry about and go wrong! You know where you are with a bit of rope! BAAAAHumbug!
  8. If i had a job in Worcs i would do it. Its over an hour away for me so its not viable.
  9. £50 aint taking the piss, come on guys, Jack is a good bloke, he's done a few days with me in the woods and he's keen to learn. Fuel on top is a liberty, we all know it costs pence to run a chipper for less than an hour. Give him a break and stop being greedy! It's cash!! Come on you greedy worcester lot, help a bloke out!
  10. Welcome to the forum mate. Best of luck with the job hunt, dont entertain £50 a day, anyone who is offering that is takin the P! £70 is a good startin point, £80 once you've proved your worth. It's worth going employed with a firm like fountains for a year or so to gain experience, or until something better comes up with another company. Its tough out there at the mo, as you'll see in the employment section. Don't be put off though, someone will give you a start.
  11. Thanks, i managed to get sorted. I'll keep the number though for next time.
  12. I'm over at my parents house in Downham Market. I'm taking out an old hedge for them and could do with someone to chip up and take it away. An Hour's work max! Preferably today or Saturday. Mike 07972 837315
  13. Surely it is governed by your range and volume/weight collected. Your collection radius from your tip site, quantities collected etc. Which is more viable, a tractor, transit or bigger??

  16. Chortle and the wheelies Jamie and the Magic Torch was one of my favs I used love making a Para out of Action Man too, 4 bits of string, a carrier bag and an upstairs window..... To this day i never know how he stayed in one piece, dont make toys like they used to
  17. You've pretty much summed up what i was trying to say Andy
  18. Regarding the subscription fee, my idea was the person who wanted listing on the site would pay the fee. Those viewing and accessing the persons details, ie the employers, would be able to do so free of charge. Basically a 24/7 'agency' but the profit making middle man is taken out of the equation. The star rating system is a good option, or maybe some sort of feedback system??? Regarding the kit list, I meant it more as equipment available, ie Truck, Chipper, Tractor etc. I dont have the know how to create such a thing but perhaps if we show enough interest then the powes that be may have!
  19. I Cant remember the chipper but i am sure i saw a guy on ebay with a listing saying something along the lines of.... Someone has posted his chipper for sale using the pics from the advert he bought the chipper from. When i looked the pictures were identical, if that makes sense! I'll see if i can go back in the search history in ebay!
  20. Just a rough idea! I'd like to think there maybe something in it though!
  21. The thread about starting an arb agency is going a bit off track... however how many of you would subscribe to a freelance worker database if it was available on arbtalk? My thought was freelancers out there could subscribe for a nominal fee (like a tenner) and have their location, credentials, equipment listed along with references from other members etc. The employment section is great, but if looking for work, you have to repeatedly post to keep yourself up there. I'd be interested to know opinions.
  22. Aaahhh - But what if Arbtalk had a database of freelancers in your area - with references from other members THAT I would pay a subscription to... not a fee to an agency for some unknown bod. The odds are better for finding someone in your area - especially after office hours the night before.
