1. Thanks Beau, yes, Jess is going to share it on Facebook (I don't really have much to do with FB). Police have taken the details and will get back to me - there are cctv cameras everywhere as you might expect from where my yard is, just have to hope it caught them. They took the plant trailer but there was a digger auger there too and another flatbed trailer neither which were touched but expecting them to return.
 2. Hoped I'd never have to use this bit of the forum- but just had my new ifor plant trailer taken over the weekend. So keep your gear safely covered, it's too easy to be blasé about it- I was.
 3. There's a video on YouTube of a Exac1 shear on a 1.5tonner- incredible what that can achieve on such a small machine.
 4. This would be done when engine has been turned off surely? In which case I don't see it being a problem. Iv had a problem very similar to this with my landrover- none of the obvious things made any difference, I pretty much stripped the entire cooling system and replaced water pump, p gasket- flushed rad etc, new header tank and cap, list goes on. Ruddy thing still would creep up after travelling for half an hour, bizarrely it ended up being the Chassis earth strap not making good contact/corroded. Cleaned it up and solved the problem! Not sure if it's the same on a land cruise but just a thought

Hi Scott,

Hope all is well, it's Matt here from Bramdean days! I assume you are the same Scott Brown not just a coincidence.

Good to hear you are doing tree work now, what made you leave the army?

I don't tend to do much tree work anymore, did it for 8 years and set up on my own in 2009 but my business tended to evolve away from the trees and more into digger work, agricultural fencing and the like.

You living in Exeter area? All the best Matt

 6. Can someone remind me of the deal on these Sanys. Thanks. I want a 1.6tonner but lack of local dealership would put me off these a bit I think.
 7. Mine is about £90 per working day, running a 3 tonner with trailers and attachments etc, tractor and postrammer and Landy.i have no staff. That's diesel, finance, maintenance cost, yard, insurance and a fairly modest amount on advertising- I believe your work should be your main advertising when you have been running long enough. There are always going to be variables to determine an exact day to day running cost, such as depreciation calculations and diesel usage etc.
 8. Yeah, that's big enough all right! Hope you get her back in action soon.
 9. Well done on the recovery, £15k , guess lucky to at least be near a road, just imagine if it had been up on moorland or something. Flipping scumbags though.
 10. Bloody hell, that's absolutely gutting, sorry to see that. But hope insurance is swift and forthcoming. I assume it was in no way self propelling- which begs the question how do you go about recovering something that big?
 11. Fair enough, I'd have thought if you had all your statements and receipts to prove how could they take issue? If that is the case though would they also take issue if you were running one account for personal and business, because if so I can't see why they'd take issue running 2 of the same. At the end of the day there is nothing they can do about it if you can prove you are not cheating the system and in the case of the sole trader staring out many of his expenditures may be both business and personal- i.e. Running a pickup or buying a new laptop etc
 12. to make it not so obvious you are running a business from a personal account, and if one does get funny about it you have the other as a back up. It's a lot of faffing around come accounts time and I wouldn't want to do it now but an option for those just starting out as they can easily open another personal account and make it appear to the bank like it is just that rather than suddenly feeding lots of cheques in but no Tesco shops!
 13. Laziness. And for me I can't be bothered to have new invoice pads made up and inform regular customer who have me already setup for payments etc. But yes you are right
 14. To who? Perhaps It does if you are running a business with its own name and have been trading many years, but for the single man working and generally sorting his own accounts out I don't really see the problem, if your not cheating the system and have the paperwork to back it up it wouldn't be a problem.
 15. If I was starting out now I'd run 2 personal accounts with different banks and scare the business cheques between them. I have a biznes account with HSBC because I'm a mug and believed them 6 years ago when they told me I had to have one. Gains to them are £20 of my hard earned every month- I get nothing from it.
 16. Oh yes, forgot about those track guide plates on the TB016. I wore mine right through when I had one. I think they were pretty cheap to replace if I recall- bigger machines go on to a roller on the top instead, which IMO makes more sense- not sure why they can't put one on the 1.5tonners. Volvo dealer told me yesterday that he had sold a few 2.5tonners to a civil works company (working pretty much day and night) and they have clocked up 10 and 12000 hours each- they are maintained to the highest standards but shows that small diggers can do big hours if looked after right.
 17. Hi Steve, No need to change sprockets unless they are worn, my Tak is on 4500hrs and all undercarriage wear parts are original- last year i put a new set of camoplast on and these seem pretty durable- had some on an older digger too and they were good.
 18. I purchased a new 550 in 2014, it was good for a few months then one day it just suddenly would cut out mid cut, no warning or waning just stop, after a while I'd manage to start it again only for it to cut out again. My solution- stick it under the work bench and deal with it another day- two years past and a month ago got it out again, started no probs and has been faultless ever since:laugh1:
 19. But then if that's true- Eggs method of putting the handles in pipe wouldn't work right?!
 20. How about gas lines? Or is more to do with a magnetic pull
 21. Is there a length ratio in the L shape that acts works best, for example how long should the long bit of the L be? Good tip putting the handles in pipe.
 22. That's interesting eggs- must admit I was quite surprised to see the water hoard turn up with dowsing rods. Maybe I will have another go- proper handy skill to have.
 23. I like to keep my mind open to this kind of thing, I went through a water pipe in a field, Was sorting it out myself when a bloke from South west water turned up, apparently the pipe also fed neighbours horse trough so they called them. Anyway he looked at the hole where I can gone through the pipe and 3 meters away preceeded to walk over the area with his dowsing rods- "oh there it is" he says and I watched his rods move together. I thought is was quite impressive at the time, but it only twigged when i was going home that i had capped off the water pipe where I had broke it only 2 days earlier- there would have been no water at all in the pipe he 'located' Anyone do this sort of thing- I have tried it in the past with very little results but perhaps I wasn't in the right mindset!
 24. Use what came out the hole! Concreting wood of any kind into the ground leads to premature failure as the water does not drain round the post. With post and frail it's surprising how firm it all feels backfilling and especially with all the rails in. Nice job Chestnut fencing- always think that is how a fence should look like!
