  3. Thats weird!!! The only thing green around hear is the grass and leylandi. although I saw thorny hedge with small sprouts on it the other day as I drove by it. I thought I was going mad!...... it appears not. Does any one know why this is especially as it's been so cold?
  4. I'd rather die 10 months early when i'm 70 plus than die from being cold now! it sounds like the guy who wrote it is just another muppet sat in an office with nothing better to do!!and trying to justify to his boss why he shouldn't get the sack.
  5. Theres a new website i'm starting............cut it off.com its next to the other one called stog it and scarper.com:001_smile:
  6. hee heee heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:thumbup:
  7. I'd just like to thank you for sacking me that day!! it was the best thing that could of happened to me (thank you) After seeing the errors of my ways and picking my self up, after months of depression. I thought what can I do? I know I'll started my own tree surgery business, I won some big Value high way contract(luckily with no women and children about) I now have 20 blokes working for me and all the boys toys to go with it. Just kidding!!!..............bit harsh though wasn't it:lol:
  8. I'm from Momouthshire South Wales. I don't mind throwing a load of time and money into something if the pay back is worth the effort....is it?
  9. Thanks for your views guys....I may sell a few loads I've got in the yard from jobs and see how it goes. It makes me wonder if there's any money in anything these days unless your tesco's of coarse
  10. Hello, to all you fire wood men who are helping to keep the nation warm!! I've been uming and arring for a few years now whether its worth buying cord wood in, seasoning it and selling it when things get a bit quite this time of year. When there's numpties down the road selling a so called ton of wood for 50 quid. Is it worth the hard work cutting it up with a chainsaw splitting it with a slow hydraulic splitter and delivering it? Or is a fire wood processor the only way forward to making a profit? Any advice wood be much appreciated. Cheers all Steve
  11. I wonder if the last dudes' are still alive?.....insane!!!
  12. Try the NFU I pay 860 ish for fully comp and any driver. I'm 31 but had the same policy since i was 24 but with different tippers over the years.
  13. I agree with you.....also if they pay for it themselves they will put more effort in. instead of bumming around and protesting
  14. Hi dadio, I've been following this thread and cannot see how this saves any time! I mean come on how long does it really take to cut through a bit of wood with a big saw.....not long. And would you use this method for say a 6 ft tree? coz surely it would take some serious pullling. wouldn't it? It's good people are trying different things but this one isn't for me. Steve
  15. Hey mate, I've been cutting hedges for too long!! All you need is a hs 86 r single sided one. There is no point in the double sided one, it cuts all types of hedge like a dream. It's got all the anti vibration stuff so you can use it all day without your fingers tingling. If you really want to splash out get a long handled strimmer type one, stihl again (not sure what model it is) and a telescopic poll saw so you can take the saw end off it and put the hedge cutter end off the strimmer one on it for those mega tall and wide hedges. Stihl recommend you don't do this but i've had mine for years with no problems. If you've got all of the above you'll be laughing!!! )
  16. I've been going though the same thing every year for 11 years now!! you've got to employ some one because there is only so much you can do yourself, I spent the 1st 3 years working flat out bank hols and until 9 oclock at night in the summer etc. Final had enough and employed some SHOULD OF DONE IT SOONER!! We make more money have a laugh and it makes those rubbish jobs go by faster. Personally I wouldn't specialize in one thing because for me its boring and its normally seasonal grass cutting summer trees in winter, if i had to rely on tree work in the summer i would have no work. Same with turfing spring and then autumn. I also have a glitch every year normally when things are a bit slow. I may of rambled on a bit Steve
  17. I may try it some day, if the tea dries up down this way:001_smile:
  18. Yak urine it is then! its better than nothing I suppose. Do you buy it? or bottle it from source?
  19. Red Bull with the customer supplying tea. Or if they make bunk tea then coffee
  20. Hi there I use mitchelin agilis alpin on my tranny, I think there just winter tyres though. But the guy in the tyre shop said the mud pushes out from the flexible slits in the tread It seems to work coz I defo don't get as suck as I used to. Although I'm still screwed if you get it off camber!! There about 110 quid each I,m still getting 26-28 per gallon with not much difference in road noise. Hope this helps Steve
  21. Hey all, give the lad break! I cant't find the first thread so can only comment on this one. Its only a bit of wood on the ground its not pretty but it cut up. Theres too many factor to consider chain, bar etc Fair enough if he produced that sort of a cut up a tree you could slag him of as much as you like, but then again you would of used a bigger saw! and from experience some young lads don't like asking because they don't want to make themselves look stupid.
  22. Probs, but not for 150 quid though!
  23. Sorry! 1st post did'nt see the other pages!........dow! Just filled in the bit at the bottom.
