  1. You will find it interesting, I have bin involved with this system commercially, Don't completely agree with the description in this link http://viticulture.hort.iastate.edu/info/06iawgmtg/frostprotectionhandout.pdf
  2. Regular pruning after blossom fall, can delay the blossom for up to three weeks in later years. Frost protection in fruit trees can be done by irrigation, although ice forms on the fruit buds the formation of the ice raises the temperature, enough to protect the buds.

  4. Cut from CS30 ASSESSMENT criteria Appropriate work gloves Risk assessment should determine whether gloves are necessary when sharpening taking into account the method and approach to the job, and the experience of the operator
  5. I agree after you have done your training. the lad was asking what equipment he would require for training and assessment. AFAG 301 1 While ❏❏no PPE can provide 100% protection against cuts from chainsaws, the following should be used: Safety helmet (complying with EN 397). ■■ Eye protection (mesh visor complying with EN 1731 or safety glasses to ■■EN 166). Hearing protection (complying with EN 352). ■■ Gloves.* The type of glove will depend on a risk assessment of the task and ■■the machine. Consider the need for protection from cuts from the chainsaw, thorny material and cold/wet conditions. Where chainsaw gloves are required, these should comply with EN 381-7. Leg protection* incorporating chain-clogging material (complying with ■■EN 381-5).
  6. Guidelines from Lantra and NPTC are that you do wear them for training and Assessment.

  21. There are several places on the web. When you buy your harness make sure it is comfortable for you. if you can borrow some different harnesses. and work in them. trying a harness in the shop will not always give the right impression. buy what suits you not what some one tells you will suite you.
