  1. Primer makes a big difference mate, found the same with my 560... Love them both.
  2. Was just going to say that... Mine did this because I'd not set the auto tune properly (lack of adequate timber).. I've still not had time but its done a big oak and some eucalyptus and is improving daily.. I'll set it properly tomorrow.
  3. What is it they say.. a picture paints a thousand words.. great interpretation of the battle between these giants of our world Adam. The king is dead... Long live the king!
  4. Congratz mate, must be one of the first posters I've seen that's taken a good licking on standards and come back with respect and understanding.. that attitude will get you far. Good luck on future work and future posts
  5. I recently started working for a local training provider (the same one I came through) and my main objective in taking the job is to make the lads coming through more "work ready". There is a difficult gap between college or NPTC and real work (this we all know) but only those providing the training can make sure they match up on release.. I'd like to think I'd let my guys loose on my 560 chain but I'd be kidding myself right now, however I've only been there 2 weeks pre Christmas so have total confidence I can prepare them better by graduation but it'll not be easy.. as mentioned by others I feel real work and knackered chains on time pressured jobs the way but it is hard to achieve in a learning environment. I have a dream
  6. I,ve just been offered worldpay zinc.. £60 notes for the handset then 2.75% per transaction.. I believe you can go onto other tariff's for bigger firms but they said this way I'd only pay something when I used it.. can see the sense but not had enough requests to justify the £60 just yet

    560xp recoil

Why would it.. it's a spring mounted to expand and contract as the two saw parts move.. even in that state it can accomplish that.. if it lead to rubbing parts it'd be different but as pictured it'll still work.. that said when I first saw that spring I thought they'd make it a bit thicker.. I guess it'll get upgraded at some point.

    560xp recoil

Haha, I like it "not AS bent" lol, I think unless they replace it I'll either buy a few spare or learn not to drop it at all.. might slow things down a touch but such a nice saw its worth any change I have to make.

    560xp recoil

Adjusting my working method is already in progress.. not done it so far but it's been a difficult habbit to break, interrupting muscle memory isn't easy haha.. just out of curiosity is it a full drop or does it still bend if you slow the decent with your hand?

Anyone know if husky are working on an upgrade for that av spring on the 540? Mine's fine but seems to be a common fault.
  11. mind me asking how often you root prune? And do you cut the classic fan shape or are you more selective as with branch work?
  12. This was my point.. depending how you look at the relationship you could tick one or more of those on either side, would it not be easier make it a requirement regardless of these rules
  13. Professionally I agree Steve and do have EL cover, I was just curious as people often talk of fine print being a stumbling block on insurance claims and having been told I didn't need it as coletti described I wondered at what exact points EL becomes a legal must and do people end up covered or not covered simply because of the relationship technicality.. sorry my head asks these questions and you guys are the best when it comes to nice friendly debate  At no point was I thinking of trading without it.
  14. The question comes with how much or how little of the job you can quote for.. and when it seams you become integral to the original contract.. I was informed the same as you, not necessary under the conditions you described however I believe in siding with caution till I could prove either way.
  15. Mate I feel for ya, we downsized over new year once, not fun haha
  16. I'd be interested in finding out finer details at some point Felix once those books are liberated.. and you have the free time to look of course.. I'm keen to understand just how much (or how little) of a job can be contracted out with regards to insurance cover.. not that I'd actually take chances on a technicality, just a thirst for knowledge do you know of an online reference for the law of tort? Also looking myself but saves time if someone already has one haha

  18. That only covers definition of self employment.. we're all self employed in this instance but it's was the finer details of EL insurance cover that interested me.
  19. Ok so that was my first thought.. I just lightened it for humour sake haha
  20. I get ya, and I agree. I think though both operations could in theory be done separately, once you put both on site together (though not conclusive proof of integral) it'd be hard to argue otherwise.. and I guess the moment communication between groundy and climber is established its one job.. I'm curious now to see if building industry has now defined it better than before.. I (as a builder) could contract out something as small as adding nuts and bolts to duct I was installing and not need to insure them.. I'm sure this has been fixed.
  21. I do see this as genius.. I'm so small that I have no truck, no chipper and no yard.. I still complete domestic work with the aid of a friends firm.. not a bad way to start on a minimal budget imo.
  22. Haha got an image in my head of a little groundy attempting to stop superman as Clark Kent
  23. I'd like to apologize to the op for the derail, perhaps another thread is needed, I think it's all been covered before but I like to question definitions in order to better understand them.
  24. Ok so an example.. the climbing operation requires no pull lines, no rigging, I'm in a field with no targets... The climber can work alone (unsafe and not done but for the sake of this example) the "groundy" is on nothing more than a site clearance contract. is he integral?
  25. I'm not trying to be difficult... Just clear on the point between labour only and contractor.. it's something that's always bothered me as in the building industry I could contract out the act of installing ductwork brackets as I installed ductwork yet they were two separate jobs conducted at the sake time.
