1. Is that your new magnetic bench Rich - dang fantastic bit of kit:thumbup:
  2. She has mailed the carver and will see what they come back with!
  3. Reckon that will clean the drains out:blushing:
  4. A work colleague has purchased a fruit bowl from the Herts Show and forgot to ask what wood it is - I have an idea but anybody know for sure?
  5. Looks fine, as others have said, do it after a number of flat out cuts for the correct results. Is it an 020t carb?
  6. A vibro what...how the other half live:lol: Thought most Stihls were vibro tools:blushing:
  7. Following on from Gardenkits advice, Clutch springs are the usual culprit - does the saw stall when the chainbrake is put on? The springs may look OK but they do lose their tension and clutch spring seats can wear! Other things it may be - tight needle bearing, dirt & grot around the clutch and clutch drum, twine wrapped around the crank shaft and clutch. It may simply be the idle speed - have you tried taking it down a bit so the engine idles firmly without stalling but not racing?

Hi Andy,

Which Steve is this...Stevie B??

The price of the parts is around £235 ex VAT and that is from L&S engineers. What happened to your saw, from what you are saying it sounds like new parts were fitted and failed - no disrespect to you if you fitted them but I always check the saw out for the cause of failure and tune to run a bit rich for the first few months after rebuild.

The saw may be salvageable if the cylinder isn't badly scored - just got a MS660 in for a similar fault and have brought quite a few back from dead for minimal cost.

Let me know if you need any further help - I can tell you aren't in a happy place but may be able to get the saw checked out and running again!

  9. Dear Stihl, You currently appear to be trying to go against the wishes of your loyal UK customers and what we need and want and are potentially running a huge risk with your UK market share of machines, PPE and ancilliaries. We understand the need to only sell dangerous equipment only face to face but don't understand the decision to take all other Stihl manufacctured parts and items off online sale and make them only available through dealers is shortsighted and significantly bucks the trend of increasing sales online in the UK. We are all busy people and to purchase Stihl products online in your own time and when convenient and then get on with other work/leisure pursuits is a huge benifit rather than having to go to your local agent, order parts, have to wait longer and then have to go back to collect them is antiquated and out of date practice in our UK market place. You are causing some very negative comments about your company on this site and should sit up and take note - flexibillity and customer satisfaction should be your goals. Making your products less accessible and purchasing more time consuming will end up in your company losing business at a time most companies are trying to retain customers and give them what they need.
  10. I was only joking when I said you shouldn't throw your saws out of trees.....should have known better:lol: Think your issue was the recoil rope catching on the flywheel!
  11. Trouble is....I know what you mean....Tooting Popular Front:blushing:
  12. Just like yourself:blushing::lol:
  13. Whats with the name change Ed, you running from something:blushing: Got quite used to calling you Wolfman Ed....bit of a take on American Graffiti's Wolfman Jack:thumbup:
  14. Well you said he wanted a BRIGHT orange top and not the DULL red orange one so thought I would treat the old boy as colour seems important to him:001_rolleyes: The thing won't run but will look nice:lol: Ain't seen much cake for a long time:sneaky2:
  15. Plasticote - fast drying and pretty tough! The colour isn't 100% but close enough!
  16. Got the 064 and MS230 converted over to Aspen - new fuel lines, carb kit on the 064 and new O ring on a leaking fuel cap on the MS230 - all fine now. Started on another 357XP that is being ported on request, one of my saws. first one I tried had a badly smashed crankcase but this one is coming up pretty clean. Done all the prep work and clean up, the compression pre porting is a whopping 190psi so is nicely run in:thumbup: Just got the porting to do and the muffler mod and then back together! Rebuilt the side cover and sprayed it to smarten the saw up.

I had a 353 in some time ago and TBH found it pretty flat compared to the 346XP albeit in ported trim, your narrow kerf is a good idea, you would probably get more out of it by reworking the transfers as I think they will be restrictive but for a back up saw to your others or for a bit of logging then it will be fine as it is!

  20. Rose and Crown or The Three Tunns:lol:

  22. Now theres a thought - think they used a charge of high explosive - be good in a car - James Bond like, I have had passengers I could have ejected at will - no sunroof though:blushing: Thats what I like on here - you come out with a comment and it lines you up for days of abuse in a comical sort of way:001_rolleyes::lol:
  23. At work we have been through the previously mentioned manufactures and the one that stands out head and shoulders above the rest for fit, colour fastness and durabillity are Dickies - yup, they are by far the best! Ours are dark blue and despite wearing them every day, are still dark blue and are a nice non baggy fit, not stupid tight but just fit well with a slight taper down to the waist - sort of tailored. We have had Fruit of the loom and gildan and Dickies are far better. Some of the shirts sent over from the US were also damn good but will be harder to get hold of. We have typical Polo shirts for our company wear!
