  4. Glad it turned out nice - it seemed pretty fast when I tried it and good to see the figures against the 550XP:thumbup: Yes, GT85 gave it a good blast of GT85 and then the compressor - cleans most of the crap off. Thanks for letting us all know - always good info:thumbup:

From our "boys day out", my 357 was 0.4 secs slower than the 560 on 3 cuts with mine on a 17" and Mattys on a 15", since then I have opened up the exhaust a fair bit more and shortened the bar so should be pretty much the same if not a little quicker. My saw has a pop up as well as a muffler mod and the porting. The 560 has a lot of go and wins out on the fact it readjusts in the cut for bogging where the standard tune needs to be backed off a little to get back on the power band! I am doing an 066 now that should hopefully go like a bat out of hell....or bang:001_rolleyes: An interesting project that will probably break arms starting it!
  7. Sounds like fuel starvation to me - possibly split fuel line, blocked fuel filter or most likely, the brass check valve is partially blocked - stick it in a decent ultrasonic cleaner or blast carb cleaner down the H screw hole and it may well clear the issue!

    Keep the MS200, parts are still available and are readily available second-hand. The MS201 is stifled by the strato design and has a very restrictive inlet manifold design which limits its potential. The only Achilles heel on the MS200 is the carb and the later models are much better - keep it and just refurb it if necessary...done loads over the last two years and there is a reason for that:thumbup:
  9. There was only one type of MS200 exhaust that has a spark arrestor - I think it was a very old 020T one. Only seen one in my time doing these saws - probably unlikely to have one!
  10. That looks pretty nasty - it is possible that he only used it in very short stints and never got to the temperature to melt aluminium. My brother had a similar instance - purchased a Honda four stroke and wasn't told by the dealer to use any oil in the petrol but fortunately read the instruction manual - not the usual blokeish thing to do:001_rolleyes:

  14. It depends on the airleak, slight air leaks increase revs, big ones kill high revs -a split inlet manifold will stop high revs if the split is open. The check valve is the brass bit in the carb that goes from the diaphragm bowl to the inner bore.
  15. If you can't get the saw to rev then it may be lack of fuel - a blocked gauze filter, it may be a dodgy check valve or possibly a bad air leak. The accelerator pump is less likely as this generally gives an unstable idle and max revs! So - my money is on the high speed section of the carb or an airleak! Worth checking the fuel line isn't split as well!
  16. All the carbs from 020T through to late model MS200T are interchangeable. The 020T can be a bit finicky to tune but you are OK - if th ecarb is a known good one with no idling or high speed issues, it should just bolt on and run. You may need to tweak the H/L/Idle screws but that is normal!

  20. Not a problem, thought I would see what stoves were recommended for the fella - I run a Stovax, both my brothers have Clearview and my father is Jotul but all are a bit pricy for his budget!
  21. This is for a colleague of mine (not on Arbtalk), he is looking for a free standing stove, 5kw or under with a budget for the stove of circa £500. He has looked and likes the Aga Little Wenlock but thought some of you may have experience of this or other manufactures in this price band - I have suggested Clearview, Stovax and Jotul but the price tag is too much so circa £500 it is. He is in the Surrey area if that helps!
