  1. It is all done, I didn't find anything wrong with the saw. I re-read the thread where you were saying you weren't impressed with the power of the saw and checked everything and the whole machine is in very good condition, 100% OEM, fuel line and system 100%, great compression, gave up at 150 as it was a bitch to pull over and would suspect it is close to 190 now! Pic as below, a 20mm stainless pipe straight in to the mufflers first box! Just needs a run up and tach but sounds good:thumbup:
  2. Like a big lump of overcooked gingerbread:sneaky2:
  3. Know what you mean - 5mm drill in a dremmel time and grind off the crap, looks like burnt gingerbread to me and nothing known to man dissolves it:sneaky2:
  4. Aw crap, I hate these minging saws when they are like that. Looks like a bio oil job. I think you can clean that one up:sneaky2: Grrrrr

    No worries Andy:thumbup:

What the hell is "Sudderised" ...........a deep clean:confused1:
  7. Spot on, I have seen the area around the cover screw pierce the pumping diaphragm. Use a magnifying glass and a bright light to inspect the diaphragm. It may also be a slight leak around the gasket. Use a little oil around it to seal it and try again!
  8. Not sure, I know he had some health issues but don't know more than that.
  9. From my side all is good, £2m Public Liability Insurance in place, Company servicing labels arrived, business cards arrived, new "Porting" labels on order, first month traded, busier than expected, February looks busy, the wife doing the books and all good so far....enjoying the freedom TBH:thumbup:
  10. Totally agree and is just how info tends to come out in a piecemeal fashion and without the machine in front of you...............
  11. No issues, been PMed by the fella and after running through all the usual situations have got to the diaphragm and it sounds like someone has fitted the wrong diaphragm. If the one with the shallow nipple is fitted, it won't contact the metering arm and no petrol in the metering section which is pretty much what I thought in the first place but assumed this machine just failed after standing and was a slightly hardened diaphragm or too low metering arm rather than a failure to understand how carbs work and fitting incorrect components. Nearly there I think:thumbup:
  12. It is so we can get more questions on how to fix it, keeps us occupied:lol:
  13. Been there, done that one. I think your comment on the history of the machine was the relevant one:001_rolleyes:
  14. After numerous PMs, I believe someone has fitted an MS200 C1Q diaphragm in it and as we all know, it has a much thinner nipple than the one on the 026 carb hence the lack of fuel:001_rolleyes: Not seen that before have we:sneaky2:
  15. I would imagine so but don't tend to use the larger saws too much and rely on others to give me feedback on what they think......perhaps it is time for a lads day out again:thumbup:
  16. Yes Scott, it is yours, all done now and just need to run it up and tach it, all in good condition, no air leaks, carb and fuel line fine, good base compression and now pulling 190psi so good. Got to go easy on these Xtorq machines down to the flatness of the exhaust port floor as it can catch the rings but worked round that and will tach it over the weekend.
  17. Have a word with Stubby, I did his a while ago and he likes it. Here is a vid of it on a 24" with MattyF on the blunt end. I had ported Matts 395XP and we did a comparison - the 395 had it but to be expected by the standard HP figs! The wood was seasoned beech BTW! [ame] [/ame]
  18. Also not helped if the customer has left the clutch loose and not told you:sneaky2: I agree - they do go quite well when they spin off:blushing:
  19. The one that is good is just a helicoil and fit a new M5 bolt, the other one may be a sod but needs the same if at all possible. Are you sending the whole saw or just the engine? Probably best to answer via PM!
  20. What - and miss all the Friday night fun:001_rolleyes:
  21. Did this mod on a 372 Xtorq, full port and muffler mod and what a fine muffler mod it is to:thumbup: Yes, that is polished marine grade stainless:thumbup:
  22. Well I have seen it all now, this rocked up at the workshop today, not sure whether to laugh or cry! Yes - those covers are white:001_rolleyes:
  23. A pleasure Matt, I wish you a belated happy birthday and it was nice to meet you and see the delight in seeing what I had done to your saw - wish they were all that clean. Happy to do the work and am sure it will give good service.
  24. Seen it before, the self tapping screws used today in modern machines are a bit micky mouse compared to the threaded ones used in the earlier generation of saws. In reality, these self tappers saves the manufacturers having to thread the casings, just grill pilot holes and bingo - cheap fixings but more fragile as I am guessing the screws are a little harder:thumbdown: Drilling the screws out is a sod, good luck with that!
