  1. Not a bad days work mowing one site which had had its first cut but needed two mowers to flatten everything. Was going oh so well until at the final hurdle the belt split and bounced off the rough deck and my colleague managed to snap a spindle on out fine cut mower.
  2. We use 250ml Glypho, 150ml of Timbrel and 250ml of fairy liquid (or similar de-greaser) as the adjuvant/ waxy cuticle breaker. That is per 15 litres of water though. But it certainly does the job. 90% success rate.
  3. Happy Birthday Jon have a cracking evening. And get on that zider.
  4. That's exactly what we use for the Laurel n rhody in our bits. What concentrations (ml:10l ratio) do you mix it?
  5. Nearly had one of our containers broken into on Friday night. Secure council depot with 24 hour CCTV keypad and locked pedestrian gate. They set off the motion detector alarm which got the local coppers round sharpish. Luckily nothing was nicked. and the padlocks have been replaced with even stronger ones.
  6. I am in 3 minds about the decay, point of failure and type of decay present 1 - Merip - Would have possibly let go further out and with that amount of decay present it would have been panic fruiting like crazy 2 - Ganoderma australe/lipense - Looks similar to Gano induced failures on beech I have seen before. Failure seems to suggest many many years of strimming damage which could have removed forming brackets at ground level. As with Merip, it would have been send small panic bodies all up the trunk and out of the damaged bark. 3 - Kretzchmaria duesta - Similar failure to Gano just with more spalting on show. Don't take these as facts just having a stab in the dark.
  7. Some pictures from today. It was rather dreary on the weather front sadly.
  8. The opening made the BBC website. Hopefully we will get into the BBC south today slot as well. BBC News - North Dorset Trailway extension connects Blandford and Stourpaine
  9. Well its lasted 24 hours so far. I'm going to give it a week before the camera or the cable is cut
  10. For those of you coming tomorrow, you are being watched:lol:
  11. Some pics taken this evening whilst out with the mutts
  12. Will get some pics of it up when we have them all out
  13. I think a bloke was pulling my leg earlier but he was telling me that Stihl were deciding whether to bring back a more refined, fuel efficient version of their 090 AV called the 901:001_rolleyes: Only time will tell.
  14. Will have to cancel this Saturdays green laning due to adverse weather which is forecast. The lanes we were planning on doing tend to cut up badly in rain and even in dry conditions. Will plan one in around June or August.
  15. We have a Wessex trailers 8'x5.8' tipper. its great when the tipper elecy isn't soaking. We also have an Ifor Williams with a Chinese botex on the front (soon to be removed and replaced with tipper) and a Tri axled "off roading" trailer which I think is Ifor as well but its a 16' x6' cage. The tipper sadly makes the ground clearance 6 inches lower due to the mechanism. So it drags its nose across the ruts.
  16. Blowing like a gooden here. Just had a tree fall on the trailway but it can wait til the morning.
  17. Weather is looking good for the open day. Fingers crossed it will warm up a bit more. Should be a good turn out.
  18. Got had by a Blandford fly whilst strimming a grass bank earlier. Right index finger has swollen up a fair bit between the first and second knuckle. Hopefully it wont be locked up tomorrow.

  21. Some shots I got of a male and female slowworm whilst I was checking the tins.
  22. Currently only 1 vehicle which is ours for the laning which would have to be from 12.30 not 10.30 as got meeting at 10.30. PM if you are interested?
