  1. Turned a pig of a hedge into a work of art with some apprentices today. Was a good laugh despite it being an old lay Hawthorn hedge which has been flailed to hell for the past 10 years.
  2. Also the mud soaks up the salt on the roads which eats the chassis. So sat around for a couple of weeks wont so it any favours.
  3. Not a bad Monday. Two gates installed (just need latches and pins) and a flytip found ready to be dealt with on Friday. Will be a van washing afternoon on friday as all three havent seen a pressure washer for nearly 5 months.
  4. Glad to see it in use ha ha. That used to be ours. We bought it for a forestry job but it was a bit too cumbersome in the woods and the "NATO" Style hitch only had a limited amount of articulation.
  5. I'm good mate. Just feel like i have been slapped by a studded leather paddle across my face His ticket i think is gonna be revoked
  6. Just found out i am shooting at Hollam in Somerset just before xmas. Being picked up by a fellow gun for the day early evening ready for a meal at the local b n b. Should be a good day as its a 250-350 bird day on some seriously high birds. Only have to bring myself, my gun and shotgun cert for the day and of course a couple of quid for the sweeps.
  7. Slip of the finger and low angle of the barrel pointing up hill. He wont be coming back and the keeper and shoot captain will be reporting him to the firearms people. As he didnt even know he had done it despite my screams of pain. The beaters thought someone had broken a bone with the scream i let out.
  8. Had a day to forget today. I got shot on the shoot i was beating at. The gun was about 50 yards away and could clearly see me and the next gun above. He was asked to unload his gun and put it in the slip for the rest of the afternoon. Its shaken me up a fair bit as its the first time i've been hit from "lethal" range from a shotgun. I am just glad it was a duff cartridge which didnt have much ooomph in it. Otherwise i would be in the local A n E with a severe case of lead based acne. My face is still stinging now from it.
  9. Had a fun windblown birch to do on Monday. We did most of it with bowsaw but packed the MS341 today to finish up the rest of it. Typical though as just as you go to start the saw a dozen horse come down the track lol. On another note the local mud plugger brigade were caught on one of our sites dicking about and generally trashing it.
  10. He had a tough life but he has changed the way the world thinks. BBC News - South Africa's Nelson Mandela dies,
  11. Not coming to Tuckers grave on the 14th then? Jons buying the first 6 jugs.
  12. Not even the council yards are safe for fly tippers:thumbdown:
  13. Currently have two broken Stihl MS170 (two chainbrake handles) and a MS260 (new recoil cover). The 170's have both broken where the handle attaches to the chain brake band.
  14. Theres just something about listening to Korn live which gives me a warm, fuzzy feel inside [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emEFE47r0LU&list=HL1385844166]Korn - Shoots and Ladders & One & Got the Life - Sziget 2012 - YouTube[/ame] [ame] [/ame]
  15. Had a cracking day at Bryanston. The plan was i was gonna be in the beating line today (or so i thought). One of the guns picked me up this morning and as i came out with my flag he asked how i was gonna shoot birds with that lol. So had to change quickly into my shooting attire, grab a gun and a bag of cartridges (and a couple of extra boxes to load the pockets ready). I was gonna pick Floyd for today but as i was shooting i brought the black and white pocket rocket. Needless to say at elevenses my fellow guns kept calling me a smug git for having 6 left and rights. Two of which i had to "stretch" for. Been invited to shoot again there next week. Just need to get some more cartridges lol
  16. Out at Bryanston tomorrow. Weather looks ideal (for picture taking) and will be bringing Floyd with me as he has healed very quickly and is more controllable than Deisel on his own. Only thing i will be hampered by is i will have my right knee strapped up as managed to make it buckle strimming on a flood plain.
  17. As its the one after xmas Dad and i have decided to up the max vehicles to 10 as no doubt there will be alot more green laners about on the plain. All terrain tyres as a minimum, subject to numbers/vehicles capabilities we will be doing the usual lanes that we do up there. There will be seasoned green laners in the group who will be able to pull out and will have radios on the day incase of breakdowns/stickages.
  18. As long as the chassis/front bulkhead/suspension mountings aren't damaged. It is repairable. A friend of mine had a similar accident in his 110 with the back wheel of a 3 wheeled lime spreader. Almost identical damage and all he had to pay for is the insurance excess. The farmer paid out as he was driving the spreader in the dark with very dirty back lights which you couldn't see and tea lights for front lights.
  19. Found two more pics of the Tincleton UCR. We only went down the hill but at some point next spring/summer we will be doing it both ways. The hill side section of Tincleton is the most challenging lane we have in Dorset that dad and i have found.
  20. Ha ha have been all day. Each time i do though it just makes me well up. We were out in a college bus coming back and as we came down the road i asked if the tutor could pull over in the layby so i could pop out. A few fellow students came out with me to comfort me as i broke down on the side of the road. I couldn't see for the tears but it also got a couple of students tearing up even though they didn't know him they could tell how close he was to me and how much i hurt inside.
  21. 6 damn months now. I wish it was a bad dream and i want to wake up from it now. Shed a fair few tears at college today just thinking about him. It wont be getting any easier i know that much
  22. Next one for the diary/calenders. Bit close to xmas i know but will be a day up the Plains. Won't be doing the Ox Drove unless people want to but will be starting off with a nice easy, suspension warming one providing a VTRO isn't slapped on it. Let me know if ya can make it.
  23. Nice little sleeper bridge job to finish off the day. Only took 2 of us to knock it out in 1 hour 40 mins.
