  5. Its the highest i have ever seen the Stour. It had enough power to rip branches off trees and pull weak trees out of the banks. Will be looking at the damage on boxing day.
  6. Blowing and belting it down ere. Had 8 powercuts so far including a power surge caused by a flooded transformer. Not had a drop of booze as on call. Currently have a mates agri disco and a nice big Fendt at the ready. Wish me luck:lol:
  7. A mate of mine has two old Discovery's which he runs on red both agri reg. One has a TDV6 under the hood (Disco 1) and a 7.5l Cummins under the bonnet (known as the beast). Both run on red and as he lives about 2 miles out of town he does he weekly shop with them as well as run around the farm.
  8. Fiddleford Bridge near Sturminster Newton this afternoon. It was going down very slowly there but it will be rising again tomorrow. Will be out on Tuesday getting pics all over the place.
  9. Was on call earlier but nothing called in. On call for monday night going to be a nasty one again. Lots of rain on saturated ground, i wouldn't be surprised if we have a load of trees down on the sites and rights of way.
  10. Belting it down and blowing hard outside. Not on call tonight but till be on Monday.
  11. Hope all involved will be OK. BBC News - LIVE: Apollo Theatre roof collapse: Latest updates
  12. Still got TV for now but all street lights are out and winds are getting stronger. BBC forecast said gusts exceeding 90 mph tonight for Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wales and parts of Dorset and the IoW
  13. Wetter than a beavers bush out there and blowing a hooley too. Had two street lamps blow over already and two power cuts. On call as well.
  14. Yup. The tip came out clean just a fair bit of blood and other gunk. It felt something go thru my glove earlier this afternoon but couldn't see anything until it appeared at about 7 tonight.
  15. Pulled out a half inch blackthorn spike out my right index finger at the second knuckle. It swelled up like a gooden when i pulled it out. Cant bend the joint at all but have a compression bandage on it to get the swelling down.
  16. Very very wet all day. Was doing some tree work on a site in Dorchester and it was peeing down all morning. Got home at about 5 and went out for two hours with a mate who works for Dorset Highways and we went round and checked all the little local roads for flooding and see if we could do anything. We put up 20 road closed signs up as all the little streams are now torrents over the fords. The local river is rocketing up too and its still belting it down now.
  17. BBC News - Duke of Wellington's Kingston Lacy tree felling 'cavalier'
  18. A week of doing gate for stile replacements in a local parish. Got a shed load of timber left over as the person who did the site visit didnt take a tape measure to see if the gates and corrals would fit in the holes. Out of 6 gates only two had corrals. Also did a nice big hazel coppice stool which failed in the recent winds. It had our friend Ganoderma australe at the base having a good chew.
  19. Belting it down in Blanny right now. Weather was crap on the way home last night. Saw the clear up of one crash on the way back. Loads of surface water about.
  20. We have a Wessex 8x6 caged tipper and an Ifor 17ft low loader beaver tail for the the tractor. The Ifor just needed its first pair of deck board in 15 years which says alot. Looking at another couple of Ifor Williams of varying sizes for our verge cutting teams.
  21. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phJo1E94Yk8&list=HL1386877375]I See Fire - Ed Sheeran Lyrics (from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Soundtrack) - YouTube[/ame] Not normally an Ed Sheeran fan but i can't stop listening to this song.
  22. Not a bad day despite the fog this morning.Stood around for an hour waiting for it to lift which it didn't so it was a or bust moment. The first drive went OK with 30 birds shot, the 2nd drive we only shot 8 off due to the fog which the birds didnt like. The 3rd and 4th drives went well and the 5 was going great until someones cocker spaniel legged it through the flushing point before i could get into position.
  23. Anyone interested. Currently got 2 vehicles confirmed going (Old smokey and a mates 6.2l Chevy Disco).
