  1. I take it you are one of the guys in front of the old hall practicing rescues at the moment ? saw you climbing yesterday pm and was impressed on how confident you and your buddy both looked. youll have no problem passing your 38 with the skills you have plus Tonys pass rate is through the roof. Further confidence will come as you learn by doing. good look for your assessment Dave (that bald guy who keeps bugging mr price)
  2. Hi Twistedhicap, tried to post eariler but it got lost in the ether when our network packed up. the smokes a kinda grey colour and smells of unburnt fuel, only happens first thing in the am, or if you realy floor it down the bypass. going to do an oil change this weekend - going to try fully synthetic to see if that has any effect?? regards Dave:thumbup1:

  13. I know i'm biased, i think its a stab in the back for organisations such as the FC, but i was also under the impression that opera was based on a some guy being stabbed in the back by his best friend and then singing a lot about it, so the two logically go hand in hand??
  14. And much appreciated:thumbup:

  16. Can remember having the same symptoms with an engine, turned out to be old fuel in the system which had lost its octane rating, plus the carb had a perished diaphragm
  17. Thanks Tony There are good collections of fruiting bodies at soil level but also clumps of fructifications at about 6ft associated with oyster mushrooms and Bleeding canker, the trees a goner about time we got rid I think Regards Dave
  18. Thanks David, I think that nails it, however the fructifications are also 5-6ft up the main stem of an Aesculus X carnea. Would this height be expected?i'd best remove some bark tomorrow and look for hyphae? kindest regards Dave
  19. You won’t shave your beard because it’s “old growth" Your chiropractor tells you to “stop looking up.” The world’s tallest tree has a name—and you know it.
  20. You trick your kids into going climbing by “looking for Ewoks"
  21. Hi Folks I have spotted several trees we have around the place with young fruiting bodies of what I am pretty sure is honey fungus. The trees are all in decline, but I am unable to locate an annulus on the stalk of the fungi. Do all species of Armellaria have an annulus or is the fungi more likely to be something else? sorry I realise a picture would help but its getting dark outside and I get scared out there alone. regards Dave
  22. - The only time your rope gets stuck is 5 minutes before the weekend starts. - you wet yourself laughing watching newbies practicing ariel rescue - youve told your learners nth times not to wrap the rope around their hands whist lowering, only to see them quickly vanish into the canopy. -you put yourself in a&e and tell everybody its just a scrach:thumbup: - you prod squirrels
  23. Hi folks has anyone had issues with ISC mongoose karabinas, I have a whole stack which have sticking lock barrels, graphite powder even has problems lubricating them? Even tried cleaning said karabinas in a sonic cleaner earlier with no improvement. Does anyone have any magic solutions to the problem? cheers Dave:thumbup:
  24. Hi Folks hope this is an original thread if not i appologise:blushing: I came into the industry via a unconventional route. I originally taught horticulture and was pro-active in developing new skills, essentially to keep my job. I'm now 45 and feel at a cross roads as far as knowing what direction my specialism should take. has anyone else found themselves in this mid-life crisis where your specialist knowledge is through the roof but your body is begining to relent?? What kind of job opportunities are there for an aging hipster? regards Dave:thumbup:
  25. Sorry for the late reply; yes rigging lines...was having a bit of a disagrement at work regarding the suitiblity of spliced eyes on rigging lines. I was under the impression they where a good idea for the reasons stated on an earlier post;however a senior member of staff stated they were a waste of time and expensive to instal on rigging lines? thanks for your replys guys Dave:thumbup1:
