  1. I've wondered in the past, and would like others thoughts/opinions/experiences on this... Why do some lime trees have abundant epicormic growth at the base, and others none? Is it indicative of stress, or to provide carbs for reactive growth to compensate decay? Also, how do you go about checking for K. deusta when the growth is so thick? Or just not look unless there are symptoms within the crown? ... so many questions, so little time!

  4. Why might waterlogging cause such bottle butt? Do you know/think there is decay present, or is it a type of canker? Looks like the main roots extend 'through it' and out the other side; does that make sense? Thank you....

Cheers all, will see if I can get some pics
  8. I have a cork oak to look at very soon, client wants it reduced as it has reached around 40 feet tall in a small garden. Now, in 9 years of arb I have never even seen one! Can I presume it will respond in a similar way to Quercus ilex, being evergreen? Any thing to look out for, notable pests/diseases, tree species specific or common fungal associations? Apparently it sheds its leaves twice a year (second hand info from their friend), that can't be right?! Maybe old ones get blown off by autumn winds, and again during blustery summer days? anyway, any info welcome, many thanks
  9. Has this worked? Tapatalk never seems to upload photos!

  12. Something to do with force flows? More distinct channels of photosynthates traveling up and down (and growing faster, ie thicker annual increments) the trunk, outgrowing the bits in between as the core becomes dysfunctional. I may well be wrong, and await correction!

  24. Yep, I asked for your address as you have it next. Not just yet though! So far I would say it has more species and is a less cluttered in its delivery than Rogers (all I have which is comparable). I shall be more in depth at a latter date, safe to say I want a copy
  25. Was a taxonomist having a dig at an ex named Liana?
