  1. If there is any residual chemical burning it may not be that wise. I think given what you've said, I'd consider whether its possible to fell them and wait for the results of what was used. You would then be better informed and more able to make the best decision. Another option, if the client will miss the visual impact of the trees, is to see how decayed they are and monolith or carve them. I can't imagine any chemical would cause them to rot stupidly quickly?
  2. I'd be interested to know the outcome of the report, if you don't mind sharing. In particular whether fb id was confirmed, and what the recommended works choices are. Just cos I'm nosey! Thanks
  3. Nice day out by the looks of it interesting post and tree, is this the MTA you mention in another thread earlier?
  4. Helios? I'm confused, Google gives me a load stuff involving homeopathy?!
  5. sloth

    Mycorrhiza

Interesting, I wonder what the other benefits are to the fungi giving up phosphorus for no carbs is gaining, or if it is being 'fooled' into the deal somehow? Also by what biological process is the best 'exchange rate' from whom determined?
  6. How would you train for that?! Just think, its tight, but what the hell, ill give it a go. Nutter.
  7. Not a tree I'd want to dismantle and chip!
  8. what magnification is it?
  9. Generally yes. And seems to take account of the latest 3998, with regards to highlighting time of year, energy reserves etc.
  10. Is there any way of informing me when you are sure of dates location cost etc? I would very much like to attend, and it will be around my birthday
  11. Looking back I had started following this thread but missed a middle chunk (nice little vid, shall find time to watch the others). It all makes a lot more sense now! Thank you all for putting in the effort and taking the time, appreciated
  12. Thank you both. I must admit I haven't read the thread right through in one go, though I think I have been following it as it went. I shall go back and read it from the start, I may well be missing something simple or obvious
  13. May I perhaps a little cheekily ask you to elaborate on the pictorial evidence using the body language, I think I must be missing it! If not then I shall just have to keep looking to try and see what you obviously are
  14. No link I'm afraid, will try and get the pdf on here if I can
  15. I have downloaded on my phone, which I may be able to email to you, if its of any interest, a paper titled 'effects of excessive drilling on wood decay' by Weber and Mattheck. Interesting little read...
  16. Interesting thoughts, good post and certainly some food for thought.... Out of curiosity, when did you hear a carrot scream? Was it pleasure or pain?
  17. I don't think plants feel emotions, certainly not like we do, as for being self aware I am undecided. Thanks for being lured in!
  18. 1. Thank you 2. Sounds complicated, and best left to pros!
  19. And in several words?
  20. Magpie sounds right, white to clay-pink gills and an unpleasant smell according to Phillips, also that its found in beech woods, and I think I spy beech leaves on the floor? I'm sure one of the fungi masters will be along soon to put us right!
  21. So do trees only associate with either endo or ecto? And how can you check to see what microfungi are present in a particular tsse? Thanks again, sorry to ask, but it seems with fungi answers raise more questions!
  22. Thank you
  23. I would imagine the tree was folded over, splittng on the top as it went some time ago. Then the original leader died (and was cut off) so a secondary branch became the current leader. The ribs are wound wood callousing over the dead portion of the original trunk. Cool tree
  24. A question also if I may? Are all ectomycorhizea microfungi, and all endomycorhizea macrofungi (or thee way round)? Or is that far too simplistic!? Thank you for indulging a fungi novice...
  25. I can view it using my Essex library card through Essex librarys website, I imagine any county library will do the same. Good luck!
