  1. Could give bland landscapes ltd from ardleigh, Colchester a try. They have an ecogreen shredder should do it. 07710770280
  2. Hmm, followed that link from bsi shop, but it doesn't seem up for comment now? Have I missed the boat?
  3. Haven't seen a post re this yet, have your say now so you can moan later! http://drafts.bsigroup.com/Home/Details/743
  4. I think they can be very useful and reliable, but like any high tech equipment they must be used correctly, and the results interpreted carefully. A few years ago a consultant who is well known in the SE who I shall not name tomo'd a very prominent 100 foot redwood. He misinterpreted the results, despite my company's reservations, and condemned the tree, what a mistake! He wasn't even called in to assess that tree, he asked if he could do it out of interest!
  5. Very interesting and a good, if a bit heavy on the biochemical specifics, bit of reading. Would definitely need reading several times, with referencing Google and re-learning what I learned in A level chem/bio, to fully grasp it all. Thanks for posting
  6. Perfectly safe as long as you use common sense and good climbing practice. Can be a bit bendy, and like ash, snap under load without much warning. Presumably you will be working with someone? Perhaps they will have experiance and be able to guide you on the job? You'll be fine...
  7. Marquesence is the term I know of too
  8. What are sgr's and kd's? Also what fungus is present?

    Jokes???

    Nice, true story?
  10. No, ancient and other veteran trees: further guidance on management. It says in the latest 3998 it is in preparation at the time of publication if this British standard. Wondered when it is prepared and ready
  11. Interesting site, but not what I'm after, cheers

    Jokes???

Not really a joke, but it was daughters 1st birthday last week. She got a card with a big glittery 1 on the front, on the back it said 'WARNING - not suitable for children under 3 due to small parts' Huh?!
  13. Do I predict some guess what this is posts coming soon?
  14. Yet another interesting, and free! day I'll miss out on...
  15. Thanks for that I am now going to try and decipher all those random letters which are apparently file types and work out the differences between them! So in essence, having been given for instance an autocad topographical survey, it can be converted for use with just about any program and then back again with added data? Interesting that OS are encouraging commercial use by open source. All LA maps I see say copied under license. Ta
  16. They do that?! How uncouth...
  17. Just wondered if anyone knows any info regarding the veteran trees further management guide referred to in the new 3998? Can't find anything on Google... Cheers
  18. Rather encounter a possum than a squirrel up a tree!
  19. I also think Fraxinus associates with ectomycorhizal microfungi, Gerrit did post a list somewhere, and I may be wrong!
  20. If they are Coprinus, I suspect disseminatus or atramentarius, then they are not mycorhizal, but most likely decaying buried wood, stumps or roots. Would agree with the honey
  21. Damn, beaten to it!
  22. Only looking on my little phone screen, right, now I've an excuse, elm
  23. Wouldnt get high on those my friend, Coprinus spp methinks
  24. Also, how are the options, if any, for adding detail/annotation etc on the maps? For example tree numbers, or constraints plans/rpas etc? Thanks again!
  25. Hi all, and firstly thanks arbmatic for the pms. I am seriously considering this software but before making the move, I have a few questions to ask those who have used it... Their website says it is connected to Google earth for making use of maps. How does this work, do you need separatewhat licensing to use/print the maps? Does it only show the satellite images, or OS style ones as well? What type of surveys does this work well with? I am wondering if it is well suited to plotting tree positions on maps for estate/site tree safety surveys, with accompanying work schedules and recommendations etc. Also, how suited is it to BS5837 surveys? Can you use existing digital topographical surveys provided to you, or if there isn't one, will the Google earth connection work? If anyone has any opinions, good and bad, feel free to add them here. Thanks in advance, any information appreciated
