  1. Hi everyone Now nearly 60 I have been suffering from the above for a few years. Started tree work in the early seventies, at the age of 14 working part time and school holidays. No earmuffs etc until I was about 18-19. My wife started moaning about having the TV to loud and went for a hearing test and was told it's not to bad! Also I can't hear conversations in a noisy pub. I have a constant sound of static, all the time and sometimes ringing. I was told Tinnitus and they can't do anything about it. I was wondering how many other Arbtalkers are having the same problem and have had the same diagnosis? Martyn
  2. Thanks for the notice, something else to look out for on my Loler's! Martyn
  3. If you like real ale, the Vat and Fiddle has about 8 ales on. It is very near Nottingham train station and the beer is cheap, well to southern prices! Probably a good place to start before hitting the town centre. Martyn
  4. I Agree with Timon. I have seen this done over a number of years. There is no need to fail as it is just for retrieving. Just make the loop small enough so you can't put a normal karabiner in it. Martyn
  5. If you are going to Spain a Stihl 201T will cost you €739 you can usually get 15% discount which will bring it down to €629. At today's rate will cost you £553. Honey's or Jonesy will cost you £550! Last year before Brexit it would have cost £490! But don't get me into that argument. Also in Spain you can get Stihl 193T which after all the calculations will cost £275 or a 150T-CE for £315. So unless you want a 193 which is not available in the U.K. There is not much in it. Martyn
  6. Sorry I meant the reply to Steve, I am a bit slow on this modern technology!
  7. Thanks for that. When I ran Honey Bros, Zigzags had not even come out!
  8. I would agree. I have LOLERed over a hundred mark 3's and never come across a cracked one. Most dealers will swap straight away. Not sure after 2 years though. Martyn
  9. You all might have seen this, but it still makes me laugh! My Blackberry is not working! [ame] [/ame] Martyn
  10. Whoops predictive text again 📱
  11. Also the white spirit took of the vanished surface with little white spots where it overflowed!
  12. Injection with white spirit worked for us, but this was on Oak bedside cabinets, not kitchen work services! So not sure on hygiene issues. Martyn
  13. You can replace the strap that run through the lower D's if they do wear, save retiring the whole harness. They cost enough without getting your full use out of them! Martyn
  14. Ok Chris Give me a ring, text or email on [email protected] or 07760 692984 and we can sort out a date and time. Martyn
  15. How quickly do you need it done? I am in the area but not to the end of July, which obviously is a long way off Martyn
  16. Sounds a good trip as well. Alps in the summer is great!
  17. Oh Sorry I thought we where talking about my Spain trip to Costa Almeria and Granada etc
  18. Agreed but you are looking at 24-30 hours non stop driving and longer if not taking the Toll roads in France. Plus about £80-100 each way in tolls. It depends on how long you have got.
  19. You could take the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander then it's about 10-12 hours to Alicante via Madrid as an option
  20. Hi Steve What about a trip to part of Spain that's off the tourist route. Cheap flights to Alicante then hire a car using one of the local firms or the web site( doyouspain.com) then head south, taking in Los alcazares, Mar Menor, Cartagena and Mojacar and keep going as far as Almeria. You can the head into the Mountains to Granada, possibly heading back via Sierra Nevada, Tabernas where they made the Spaghetti westerns, and Murcia. A great part of Spain and a lot more reasonable than the more famous Costa's. Only €2-3 a 'pinta' and food is very cheap also. Temperatures are in the mid twenties at the moment. Martyn
  21. Some double fishermen knots are so tight, they would take forever to undo, so I just inspect and make sure they are tied right. If the knots are wrong or too short and I can't undo them. I cut them with a rope cutter
  22. As a Loler inspector I have always used this as a good guide. Any thing shorter is a failure with me. Martyn
  23. Wish I had them in my days. Sounds good as well!
  24. My first pair where the worst pair of Spurs ever made. The only ones you could get then, in the seventies, where forged Spurs made locally in Godalming with welded gaffs. I can't find any photos of them. Don't know if anybody has got any pictures. They where a relief to get them off. Then came the adjustable Spurs with replacement gaffs. I finally finished off my climbing days with steel twisted shank Buckingham which then where a joy to use! So a try a few pairs to find the best for you. Martyn
  25. I am thinking about doing the same, I don't have a website at the moment and thought about dragging myself in21st Century! How much did it cost?
