  1. hi Depends on age, as much machinery now requires over 21's as its so large. But i'm currently paying £8/hr during normal hours, and £11/hr overtime for my good long term full time driver's...... the lads doing the summer silage and harvest trailer driving who are younger and some pretty un-skilled are on min wage and probably will require a well placed boot at some point for a bulls up!! I might top up my long term chaps wages up with a bonus at the end of the year depending on what kinda season we've had and how much is left in the kitty!! They don't don't get it every year otherwise it just becomes an expectation every year.
  2. I rent the corner of one of my meadows to a company who use it for 'country' (they use some fancy term I've forgotten but its the same meaning!) weddings for people wanting as they put it 'something out the ordinary'................ seems normal enough to me. But they pay me £2000 for the max no. of 200 people, they get to use it the 2days prior for setting up and one day after so four days in total. I reckon its OK money, but make sure you stipulate they're responsible for litter and damage!
  3. Were all blue, all 35 tractors of all ages are blue, well I guess there is a red fergie 35 lurking in the shed along with a green field marshall but otherwise all blue! Trouble is Agco have become such a big company they'll be owning everything soon!!!
  4. falling behind with lots of jobs, but we need the rain but could do with some sun to warm the groud back up!!
  5. but it wouldn't be road registered by doing that, or am I missing something??
  6. doesn't that change require an SVA test these days? Might be very wrong though, bit out of touch with it all now I don't play with landrovers anymore.
  7. ha ha ha ha marketing at it's best!
  8. You may find you need an SVA test for it? Best thing to do is to get the Mrs to make you a brew and sit down and have a chat to dvla and see what they say!
  9. Thought it was, brother in law says that about his you have to be quick to change the band otherwise you can end up with some scabby looking timber!! he was pleased to hear yours as moody, as he wondered if it was just his being a arse at time!!
  10. You should also be looking at cycle times as well, as the last thing you want is to be waiting ages for the ram to split and then return to its home position. It'll do your head in more than having a splitter with perhaps a bit less pressure and having to slice the odd log with the saw if it won't split first time! Just my pennies worth!
  11. Your right they don't, but probably won't be long!! Looks good, wonder how much 'twist' you'd get in a boom like that lifting unbalanced loads?
  12. is that the finnish left by your wood mizer?
  13. merlo are the others, and if my memory from reading a recent farmers guardian they are both the same machine, merlo in landini colours. I could be wrong mind!
  14. think the words below his name came in just about time!!!
  15. We use the small bottles of sterile eye wash, like above about 25 for a tenner. I wouldn't use anything else in my eye, if you've just got something in your eye, chances are you've scratched the surface, so you want something sterile, and water ain't that!
  16. now thats what I call a post banger!! Wouldn't mind one of them in my shed, to play around with!
  17. wonder what it handles like at top speed on a rough uk road??????
  18. probably cuz there on benefits and don't tell the tax man........or am I just a sinick?
  19. Who needs an expensive stump grinder when you can have this for just $350:lol: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqnvKRfc8bM&feature=related]stump burner demo1.wmv - YouTube[/ame]
  20. I've been to Russia on a couple of agriulture related jobs, and I have to say if they pulled their fingers out which some now are, they are going to be a serious force to be reckoned on.
  21. Spot on, couldn't agree more!!! Think i've learnt JV is only bad for my blood pressure!
  22. You were lucky enough to have a decent brick chimney, when i put our wood burner in four or five years ago now, I had to line the chinmey as it was pourous in a couple of places, so without taking down the whole stack through the middle of the house, I had no choice. So I think your theory sucks!
