  1. Do you have any idea on the listing title? I have various tools I can use to see even ended and deleted listings. Only thing I get for 'greenmech chipper' are these item numbers 180816911624, 140701082603, 290661796691, 270886205796, 110818895281, 170768018657, 120847393868 I'll have another dig around later once the kids are in bed. See if I can see any for less specific searches.
  2. Just bloody councils trying to get their claws into anyone with a bit of nouse so they can have a bit of the take to give to wasters.
  3. My dad taught me that one.
  4. Thanks WoodED, I will try that. My missus is always going on about me overtightening the babies milk bottle.
  5. Our 1993 Hilux has approx 400k on the clock and runs like a dream. I am also getting constant offers from strangers for it. The wings are shot but it runs like a swiss watch. Best thing we ever bought. Probably worth the same as we paid for it after 5 years of ownership and hard use. Very few issues. Handbrake siezed due to rusted back plates letting water in. Bonnet catch a bit sticky. New battery. That's it really.
  6. I just lift the end of the bar on my 345e with one hand so that the weight of the saw is on the bar and then tension. Works perfectly.
  7. Still got them stupid Husky fuel and oil caps on them. I love my Husky saws but hate those fillers. Drive you nuts on a cold day when your fingers are frozen and they have rattled themselves tight.
  8. I have noticed actually that any piles of brash left around the place usually have a rabbit hole under them within a month or 2. We don't have deer here that much but have plenty of rabbits. Whats the best protection from them? I thought of some kind of circular guard made of weld mesh or similar and pegged into the ground around each stool.
  9. Nah, just keep the engine running.
  10. My dad bought a cheap Mcculloch one off some TV shopping channel. It's a trimmer with all the extra bits on. It's cheap and nasty but to be fair, it's done a lot of work and seems lighter than the Stihl I have borrowed (no idea on the model). That said, we have found that we use it all the time and worry that it's going to fall to bits. We sell quite a few of the Draper Expert version and have had zero comeback on those. Your choice is either a new budget brand which is guaranteed or a second hand proper model which may have been abused I guess. Great tools though. The other day I had an Alder which had snapped about 3ft up the trunk but had not fallen and was horizontal, hanging up in some hazel trees. Rather than have to try and get it on the ground, I was able to log it there and then from a safe distance.
  11. 10 years is workable. Not sure I'll be around in 20 the amount of stress HSBC are giving me at the mo! I also wondered about the effect on regrowth of piling brash on the stumps. I guess where deer are prolific, it's the lesser of 2 evils. Not many deer around here though. I'm going to coppice some alder next week so might give it a go.
  12. Out of interest, with an average ash stool, from the point of coppicing, how many years before you have stems which are 4 to 5 inches at the base.
  13. I take your points Spruce and largely agree but I think laying into Nick personally is a little harsh.
  14. I'm not keen on ropes or ladders so usually come at it on 10ft stilts with a pole saw strapped to each arm and the throttles locked open.
  15. Surely buring wood is largely carbon neutral? You may argue otherwise but if there is an industry created to supply people like Nick (not that he needs supply I guess) then that is a good thing. Better than digging coal out of the ground and lighting it up isn't it? The only way to move these things is subsidy or tax on the whole. People won't just do what's right.
  16. Isn't it better just to get the whole shebang really hot and then have a fan blowing the damp air out?
  17. If Tony Blair was still in power we would all live forever. Not so sure with these ruthless tories at the helm. We'll probably have to go back to natural life expectancy.
  18. Amazing result. Much cred to those companies helping Predator out. Proper outfits. T'internet gets a lot of stick but this is an example of it bringing human beings together in a time of need. Inspiring.
  19. Congrats, well done.
  20. What about keeping the fan but installing a cheap wood stove in there which you can burn arb waste / pallet wood etc in? Would massively increase the temp in the container. I've thought about this myself.
  21. There's a bloke on eBay selling straight seasoned sun shoots for loads of money as walking stick blanks. Bigger stuff makes lovely easy logs I think.
  22. Out of interest, is it possible for a neighbour to tpo a tree without the owner knowing or is the owner informed?
  23. Is your gas boiler a standard one ie not a combi? At the mo we have a gleddhill torrent accumulator with underfloor heating. The esse is the main heat source and we have our original gas combi running through a coil in the tank which keeps it to min temp. There is also a solar coil so far unused. What I would rather do is run the main body of water through 2 wood stoves and a gas boiler.
  24. I lent a brand new 345 to a 'tree surgeon' once. Found out later he had been mixing fuel in the saw itself. Never again.
  25. Thanks. Would it also be worth soaking then in something?
