  1. i like that, Im thinking of getting a mill for just this kind of project. well done and keep posting more photos, i need the inspiration!
  2. I have the ocean e2e, and find it a bit too long when used with a vt, works better for me with a distel. the stien may be better for my style, or lack of it!
  3. wonder what the 661 will be like? 461 looks ok from the pics, not a fan of the new style all in one filter cover screw down lid design like the 261/362.
  4. what you doing this weekend? when i was at college it was beer, sex, and a little studying!

Once i left, it was work, beer and remembering what sex was like, as i was too tired from work!) funny what college can do for you!

  5. i will take your word for it, blondie!

  6. bite your tongue wooded, i thought you were a husky man!
  7. yeah, they are sharp! hitch climber wont be on your course, its a bit like a split tail system, with a pulley to make it slick and fast, needs some practice, but good for climbing and working, love it for branch walking, and descents at speed!! not being blonde i wouldnt know, but i hear you have more fun!

  8. shocking! I never found the gym was needed, if you are up for that then you arent working hard enough!) what climbing technique do you use? I find that the hitch climber setup works pretty well, would love a spiderjack, but its ££££! and i need to update my chainsaws this year!

  9. too late i joined! if you want to look me up its adam normandylumberjack, original no?

  10. I need all the help i can get to keep me out of trouble! I know what you mean, although not been climbing for long it is great fun, but I think girls have a slight advantage, as with horse riding, in that they are "anotomicaly" better suited if you get my drift? its murder sometimes! do you do facebook? i keep being told to join but dont know if its a good idea?

  11. crazy is my middle name! Work for the most part, either in the woods or renovating my house. just being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air. I was toying with the idea of horse logging a few years back, but being that i know nothing about horses it seemed like a daft plan! My dogs keep me out of trouble, for the most part. are you still studying, or is it big bad world time?

  12. I would imagine a small fine may be payable, or a short suspended sentance for such a thing!
  13. what do you do when not tree climbing?

  14. You make an interesting point! Today, with the assistance of two hoodies I found at the local poundland, doing a bit of glue sniffing, I conducted an experiment to test your theories. The pole saw worked well, but yes there was some splash back. The hedge cutter however was brutal, but ineffective. This resulted in the need for dispatch with the back-up ms660, not ideal. They are loaded into the landrover now, off to the tip and home for tea. will try some more experiments at the local town hall tommorrow to test use in confined spaces.
  15. MB Trac, these are versitile beyond words. front and rear links, equal wheels, storage for tools/ chainsaws etc. Used one a few years back, had a double drum on the ass-end, a crane on the tool "tray", a blade up front. Flotation tyres to lessen the ground pressure. AWSOME. Zetor are bomb proof, but I heard demand in Poland etc. was making parts less available for older ones, and pushing up the prices? Same tractors are fair, robust and cheap. Also Fiat? Anyone know if its possible and not too costly to 4x4 a 2wd Fordson?
  16. If you owned shares in a failing single use brethalizer factory, and were able to pass a law that made it compulsory to buy 2 for every car in France, then I think you would follow ex-pres sarko's example and do so. I have lived in france for 7 years, and never have i been asked to provide a breath sample, my hi vis vest, my warning triangle, or my spare set of bulbs! just another money spinner.
  17. Holder are good if you can get one. Valmet would be best but too expensive i suspect. County are pricey but will float over soft ground- no loader option?. Massy 390 4wd are a good robust tractor, but again hold their money. If you want a robust forestry tractor with 4x4 and the above are too pricey then case/ih could yeild a few options. I like roadless majors, and their seem to be a few coming from Holland.
  18. Take the £25 of food to work and share it out, shame them!
  19. I have a fs200, nice and powerful on most jobs. Fs85 is a great tool, light and reliable. I purchased a Honda 4 stroke about 6 years ago and wow, its a piece of junk! The vibe levels are rediculous, the dealer what talked me into buying it over a fs85 said it was just my inexperience with the machine. When i phoned later that week to ask about a trade in, his boss said " not really interested in a trade, vibe is awfull on those, thats why we stopped selling them" when i explained the situation he was shamed into a trade. Get the 85, they last forever!
  20. Sounds like the ms261 clutch issue, stihl keep sending em' out! Wonder what would happen in a HSE visit, and your kickback protection was found to have melted. If the part fails when you need it most, it will cost you your life! 36" bar vs. Head/torso?
  21. That sounds like a good way to think. I wish i could tune out for a while! Good luck to you, and if your travels take you near normandy, give me a shout and Im sure i can find you a tree to climb.

  22. Yes, I have a small forestry company in Normandy, but recently I have moved towards climbing as work in the forests here is getting thin on the ground. Being young ish (29) i hope that im not too old to make it happen.

what is you goal within the industry? are you the driven type that whants her own empire? or happy to be a gun for hire? I think i fall between the two!

    Adam

  23. Stay away from poundland, zombies will gather here! I would go to the nearest air base and spend the appocolypse learning to fly a helicopter gunship, as well as re arming/ refueling as needed. then on the second week, bovington tank museum, try out all my favourites from when i was a boy. when thats over with and all the tanks are on their sides or on fire, its off to Hereford, to find the SAS base, there i will amuse myself in the killing house, and play with all the latest sniper rifles and landrovers with miniguns on them. Look for hot zombies and invent some kind of ball gag so it stays playfull, and they dont bite me...................................... I cant belive i turn 30 next week, this was my zombie plan from 1999, and i think it needs tweeking?
