  4. Depends on regularity of use and type of work you intend to acheive, plus ofcourse your budget. Buying, Lolering and maintaining a machine which doesn't give you access or ability to cope with every possible platform situation could be a bad investment, and maybe lead to tempting bad practice (Over reaching out of platform etc) How often do you consider the use of a MEWP? Would it be more cost effective to lease/hire. This way you will always be using a machine with the correct out reach and height potential for any given job. I bought a trailed Denka DL28, which does come up short in terms of having to multi position, from not being quite big enough at times. Since we've had it, I've had occasion to bring in bigger hired machines when needed which could appear to = poor vfm .

  8. That's completely unforgivable. What did you do with him ? .
  9. This must be difficult for the old fellas ego, when last I saw him, I thought he looked great for someone in his early mid fifties Reckon he's found a fine Ale to help rejuvinate the tired old skin. .

  12. What a cracking split, must of made a hellish din. Is that a safety sign in the first shot? Yeah, do remember John, nice to see shots of it. Was it attended to, or is it still there ? .
  13. Good find Nick. Did you note the flying saw @ 2.50 Looks like a well planned out job though .
  14. Using 3 poles, I pulled a big lump of rigged Oak, out of some epicormic that got stuck on the way down. (Pre Hobbs days) The timber ran free on the slack, I turned my back on it and jumped clear, but it bounced straight on to the base of my spine. Knocked me flying, (must of looked pretty comical as the lads didn't react too quick whilst fighting back their nervous gaffaws ) I crawled off like an injured road kill. Realising something was amiss, got to A&E. Ended up being very lucky not to have any lasting vertibrae damage. Haematoma on the impact area grew as big as a grapefruit though. Three weeks in bed, hardly being able to move. A few weeks of ultrasound reduced the swelling and I went back to work, didn't climbing for a while. Still aches in the cold 10 years down the line. Haven't done anything as stupid since .
  15. Hi Matt,

He's been onboard a few weeks now, I've been off a couple of them with the knee Op.

He seems very happy with the oportunity.

I got him a flat at work for three months, to help with the relocation.

Speaks highly of yourself and Stu.

Looks well suited to the Spec .

  17. I enjoy the Radio2 & Film shows, but stay away from the chat show and his hosting Gigs. He lives in a Gaf a couple a doors up from where we dropped this Ash. He resides on my patch Matt, Hampstead Garden Suburb. .
  18. Very cute Stevie. But he's got that central finger greeting thingy, completely wrong. Must try harder .
  19. Although certainly not the best way to tackle the situation, you could use Armillatox. http://www.armillatox.com/ I had an Oak with a massive encroachment issue of A. mellea a year or so back. A liberal dowsing (manufacturers guidelines) of the trunk/route area, has completly halted the ingress of the rhizomorphs and there was no evidence of fruiting bodies last fall. The major issue wiith this, is that you will possibly/probably lose any benefical micorhiza in the local vicinty. Not so good . Won't personaly gowing down this route again. Does work however. .
  20. My sympathies to you Andrew, those women folk have no understanding how we just suffer with our ailments and clam up about it to save their worrying Don't you just hate it, when they throw the whole delivering of child" angle at the arguement. Mind you, think yourself lucky, I'm sitting here with a very fetching white stocking on me leg at the mo. Feeling very lady like The gusset part of the shot as been edited out for public safety reasons. Wish you a speedy recovery. D .
  21. This little village up in the Dolimites was festuned with these amazing metal sculptures. Cameras batteries ran out There was a great 3ft woodpecker clinging to a dead birch tree. .
  22. Don't really know heaps about the hoops, but I have the impression that there are some sites that get round the licensing for testing theories/products etc...., as they are deemed contained education centres. This may be hearsay though. .
  23. Quote - was told by someone that removing the fruit can slow inonotus fungus down as it releases exsess moisture droplets that come out when growing but i not sure if that is true - Quote As I understand it, the droplets, are the fruiting bodies management of the water content within the area of woody matter that the fungus is trying to clonise. If the wood is too wet, then the ingress of decay is stifled. .
