  1. Hope you find work ive been looking for work up here for ages with no luck! Im self employed now and im still struggling!
  2. Just checked an online shop and matched the saw i have to the bar number and chain and its correct so the bolt is too short............
  3. Ah i see il check tomorrow but if the oil holes all line up then il still just stick a longer bolt in! a have a jonsered chain 56 link and 56 link 15" bar large hole. Just need the tensioner pin a bit further back and since theres loads of room left............... cheaper fix.....
  4. i have a jonsered 2065 with 18" bar. I bought a 15" as im doing a felling course and thats the specified length....went to put it on and the tensioner bolt is too short, the pin has about an 3cmm further it can go back but its too short for the bar. Going to get a cheap bolt thats longer...anyone know the thread???
  5. Thats an awesome price and dry but they dont quite have that rustic real log look....so i think they are worth less.....
  6. I agree the sthil ones are just for aborists climbing really they are no built like proper foretry trousers. I ve always used sip classic ones as they are a good price and last forever. Just bought another all round protection pair for 90 quid! bargain and they are semi waterproof when new. Why spend more on flash figure hugging ones................. i have had 3 pairs in over ten years.....
  7. Im 9 miles from her, got some ash, semi seasoned but ash burns green anyway. Theres a few others round here as well if you want me to pm you one or two! Thanks Rich
  8. i would think so as long as its all hardwood. Im going to start doing all ash at 65 a load as much as i can fit in the back of my 86" series 1 land rover eqivalent to a builders bag in volume.
  9. Get in contact with spudulike....top man will have something for you, second hand rebuilt as new for fraction of the price. Been using my jonsered 2065 every day since i got it and its spot on!!
  10. Yeah i am that man!! i might be working on abig contract outside sheffield at some point as a cutter, summit like 300 tons of hradwood to cut and extract. Il let you know if we need some help as theres only a few of us i think. Im subbing as much as possible and starting to do firewood and as you i hate gardening work which is why i left tree surgery a few years ago so im risking no work!! barrow is bad i know but most of the stuff is in the south lakes so i ve been driving 100 miles a day round trip! im going to start badgering everyone around here soon till someone gives in!

  11. Hey yeti how is work going in cumbria? i ve got a few days a week cutting so far and maybe some other stuff but its so closed shop up here and its going to take a while to break in i think! Like yourself i want to work and hate sitting about so if i find anything worth doing or big then il let you know. where abouts are you, im in kirkoswald jiust ne of penrith.

  12. I have just moved to a small village of kirkoswald ne of penrith in cumbria. I am looking for forestry work or tree surgery work. I am self employed, have insurance and a degree in forestry and 10 years experience in tree work. I am also looking for woodlands that i could work for the timber as well if anyone knows of anything. I am going to call loads of people on the cumbria woodlands website as well. Im a bit cash strapped so anything at all will be considered, i am willing to travel as well. Thanks guys!!
  13. I drove to croatia and back on stts....brilliant tyres, cheaper than the silly bfg prices, exellent off road as well.
  14. Thanks for the info!! I have a sweep brush and poles from a garage clearout years ago so if i get permission il carefully take all the boarding out so i can replace it if i have to...............thenil sweep the chimney and do a smoke test, maybe get someone to have a look who knows about these things then not get a clarke one thats crap but look for asensible price one and fit with/without a liner whatever is best then get it checked and signed off...everyones happy!!!
  15. Right this is the fireplace in question..... it has been boared up at the back i think as there is electric there and the chimney opening has been blocked up....so i can do this myself with permission but is it worth it or too much work??? what do people think???
  16. hmmm im not sure if its viable as the cost of installing will knock the arse out of it! i could easily install myself even with a liner etc but would this have to be checked by a builder and signed off? Some burners dont need liners anyway but i think id need the chimney smoke checked again costing! Its annoying as it will save lots since the house has all round leccy panel heaters. So could i get the chimney checked if ok fit myself with a metal plate at the chimney base?? then get it checked?
  17. that was my thoughts......il have to have a look first!! tommer i may be interested in a few weeks so il let you know!!
  18. Im looking for a woodburner on a budget, looking at the clarke small pot bellied stove for about a hundred. its to heat a small room in a cottage and only has to last a year or two. Need to speak to the landlady about bining the silly leccy fake one first! Wood is no problem and will just be run on it. Thoughts
  19. Hello guys! Im moving to lancaster in the next few weeks and will be looking for work, also able to travel. I have been previously self employed. I have around 12 years grounds experience, felling and the like, chippers, saws etc. im not a climber. Nptc qualified on the saw and have a degree in forestry. even considering starting a firewood business round the area if anyone knows it and has any advice. Thanks Richard

    What 4x4

what its for? A car, towing, logs?? the ranger is ok but had some at work and they fell to bits and kept cutting out, the l200 is ok but a bit rear end happy and light for towing but powerful, the nissan...no idea but looks big and useful!
  21. pm sent
  22. yeah i usually sit at 65 on the motorway but you get used to the brakes just drive sensibly, leave gaps etc bascially like any driver should do but does nt usually! If i drive a normal car i nearly put my head through the screen....i find new brakes dangerous!
  23. hmmm top speed......................... 90+ (200tdi, range rover diffs!) shes a nice motorway cruiser!
  24. Heres my daily driver! even better shes only 58 years old and does 37 mpg!!
  25. Seems a bit of confusion here. The land rover shown is a g plate so is around late 90s. The defender was not called the defender then but juts a 90 or 110. Unless this is the change over point! If its a real defender with the 200 tdi then its worth lots more than a plain 90 with a retrofit engine. Genuine defenders are worth3 -6k depending on condition. The 90 with rubbish oil breathing engine is 1500 to 2500 at most. As a guide my old 110 f reg went for 1800, very cheap, chassis was mint and it was soooooo reliable! do miss her now and then but il have to live with my 1955 series 1 86" with tdi in her!!
