  1. Yes there is much more to life than earning money, and in three and a bit years time my pension will kick in. In the meantime I want the going rate for a qualified/ticketed/experienced tradesman, and £13/hour does not cut it.
  2. I did wriight an essay on this, but wrote feck on it, ever since I've been here you have spoke nonsense. You've been ridiculed by other members and haven't even noticed. Craic on.
  3. You do it because the jobs been overpriced, you then walk away smiling.
  4. Fair play paying his full wages during furlough, but give me a rest about SOT and South Cheshire, I could throw a tennis ball from here and it would land Alsager, 15 minutes away and the wages go up by £100/week? People in and around Stoke are tight, nothing more, nothing less. When I lived in Suffolk where the cost of living is much higher the average wage was around £23k, guess what the average wage is around SOT?
  5. You get what you pay for.
  6. Those are poor rates even for North Staffs, but if it works for you, it works for you. Labouring jobs are making £13/hour just over the border in South Cheshire.
  7. If you don't like it don't ask around this parish. When I was last employed I was on £15/hour, I was being charged out at £50/hour. That came with a company van to take home, phone and credit card for fuel and anything that was needed on the job. Where are you at?
  8. It's Burslem, Boslum with the accent.
  9. I can't wait! If they are on the books with all the perks about 3 to 3 n half times what you pay them.
  10. Why not? Our kid is contracted to do 48 hours/week delivering for Top Shop, he rarely does more than 42/week for £40k/year. As he puts it, "Sat on me arse looking out of the window".
  11. I have a MK2 Ford Escort with a full tank of fuel... looking to swap for a 4 bedroom detached house.
  12. It's not difficult, unless folk make it that way.
  13. trig?
  14. Missed it. He's already been bitching about being stitched up earlier today.
  15. Something's going to have to go, diesel or beer... looks like I'll be walking a lot more. seriously, I'm running our oldest kids truck, it drinks the stuff.
  16. No idea, we don't just pay normal tax/vat on fuel we also pay green/environmental tax, feckng scandolus.
  17. I didn't realise until today just how much tax and vat is on fuel, 52%! Surely they could cut something off that.
  18. I was half joking this morning but it's taking the p*ss now, I paid £1.74.9 this morning we've just been to get our kids car back from MOT and it's £1.85.9 at the same fuel station.
  19. Just missed this little fella, it's a good job there's two kinds of luck or I'd have none.
  20. Maybe, but listening to Priti awful and Rees Dog you would think we are doing more than other countries, we aren't. Why haven't we set up shop in Calais to process these people? Totally agree that strong/fit men should stay behind to defend the country.
  21. ... said a man who knows nothing about working dogs.
  22. All I can suggest is, be there when the contractors turn up. I had one in my last garden tucked into the edge so it didn't matter, it needed replacing and the contractors were going to move it 2 meters onto the lawn because it was easier for them.
  23. Lovely looking dogs spud.
  24. Never a truer word spoken.
  25. I Don't normally brag about going to expensive places but this morning I went to the petrol station.
