  1. there is nothing wrong with them blue books!
  2. suckers are the new shoots that the roots send up. watch out as they can spread a few metres from the parent plant. they can grow really dense and need cutting down every year - unless you want them to take over! nothing much will grow beneath them. they can be a real nuisance!!
  3. i have seen samson 3 strand on the net, but i'm not sure if its available in the uk and if its ce rated. its not nylon, so not too stretchy. i prefer my hitches on 3 strand- a bit more practice needed on the 'new' rope!
  4. don't plant blackthorns unless you have time to cut down the suckers. i have 100metres in a hedge if you have a jcb. only joking, they are good for bullfinches.

i have a cs 350?? or something like. i don't use it much as i have a husky 339 top handle saw which has a good bit more power. however it is a good little saw for thinner stuff- about 4 inch or less (a bit limitting!) it does not feel very robust when lugging up trees.very good on price though!!
  6. i was wondering if 3 strand climbing rope is still used by anyone? i started off with nylon, and have seen the poly dacron ropes advertised in the US.
  7. i am looking at getting a new ride on. i have seen 'craftsman' on e-bay with a 42 inch deck and a 24hp briggs and stratton v-twin. the engines are good, but does anyone know if the rest of the machine is? they are very well priced at 1795 inc. vat i think! they are american, but i have no idea about their performance and build, thanks
  8. i find mercedes drivers are maybe amongst the fastest drivers, but the slowest payers. old people are the slowest movers, but the fastest payers
  9. oh dear, sounds nasty. i was a big fan in the late eighties RIP
  10. just message about the harness you have for sale. just noticed the maillon rapide should be a delta one, not the semi-circle. only know as just bought one myself and they should only be loaded in 2 directions, not on the short axis, cheers

  11. i have recently got a hayter 21inch heavy duty- its the business, except costs over £900. it does 4mph and has a 6.5(?)hp kawasaki engine.only drawback it won't cut really low. that does not answer your question, i know!
  12. thanks for replies. i have not had a reply from the supplier yet (sent yesterday). i have asked them if it was stored away from sunlight, but really they could tell me what i wanted to hear. think i'm gonna ask for a refund, under 'distant selling act' (i think?), they have to refund!!
  13. its 'new' from supplier, but really 4 years old!!
  14. i have just bought a harness online, only to find its year of manufacture 2006. i am considering asking for a refund, as recommendations are to replace after 5 years. just wondering what was best course of action? i have e-mailed supplier today regarding its age. thanks
