  1. Love the pruning and tree reductions you do.... maybe a idea to add into your Promo looks like some cool removals there tho
  2. Just get a working hoilday visa bro, then you got lots of options and no ties to work with a certain person. i lived out there 3.5 yrs off and on. and love it, work is not the best but lifestlye is amazing. try keep away from bigger compaines massive turn overs and lots politics and people would shouldnt be in the position they are. visa are easy, allow a 1month processing time. in uk they are crazy fast i sent my off both times and got it back in less than a week, both times they must processed it the same day. Best of luck, NZ is the bomb.
  3. that looks alot bettter, keep it simple. what the idea between the two rings?
  4. yeah silky i agree, which also means alot harder on the ropes.... i do like it, but time will tell on the damage/ amount of damage it does to the rope. also the pulley is way to small, as when your rope runs over a branch and back into the ZZ/pulley the the tail is rest against the back of your hand and burns when going fast/ gets in the way. Gloves help lots but still not ideal situation big pulley, like HC would sort it. I try and get couple pics up to show what i mean. Also ran the Sj for year and ZZ is far superior in my books
  5. ZZ is aggressive on your ropes tho, as a hitch takes the brunt but the with the ZZ the rope does as it steel. i can feel it on my ropes after a few days use. Dunno about ripping up the rope fibres tho, that sounds like you got a sharp edge somewhere, i double check that ay.
  6. check out in the Video section about wire rope cutting. I.e Chogging down. bit of a eye opener and just imgaine with a big saw. called MS200 Cuts 10mm wire, i think. think safe! always two ropes/attachments points a foot apart from each other.
  7. i dont understand why you would go back to using a Cambium saver over a pulley saver, to me it doesnt make sense. more friction and gets stuck more, with the silly ring on the end, limits the choice of position you place it. Puller saver with big splice eye, rubber insert and Art postioner, with Art snap is the best by miles. i use the Yale mostly as it works way better than the pinto for retrieving. and the spark is old but still works good, just going into retirement haha. lol not really poor mans pulley saver but its homemade, save but beer money and use something that will make everyday that much better and easier.
  8. @ jaime and Paul, yeah i get it now. its only +1 original weight rather than 2, when you keep times it. so for 0.5m free fall it be 1.5x original weight + 1 original weight. 0.5m freefall x1.5 original weight 80kgs = 120kgs + original weight = 200kgs ?? cheers fellas think it makes sense to me now, now i am the tit
  9. as title says but some narly Pics at the end, very true and keep safe. ashame its not a 80kg weight on it instead of a truck tho.
  10. haha wonder where you got that idea Ewan..... come on matey boy, credit it where its due. Mr Bristow i think.....
  11. hey Marc how long you had your cinch? maybe just need to up the diameter of your lanyard rope? i had mine for 3-4 years and still going strong. occasional use single line on lanyard too.
  12. @ paul smith....... why not just times original weight by 4. i.e 80kg log x4 = 320 instead of.... 80kg log x 3 = 240 + original weight = 320 Or am i missing something here? Mog
  13. HRC or Armor Prus
  14. No Worcswuss, theres lot of pressure on the rope and you cant pull a bight out with the pressure.
  15. Yeah had one for bout week, also think it is a great tool. very easy switch from hitch to ZZ. i use Tachyon 11.5mm with it. Self tends pretty good, not quite like SJ but alot better and safer than a hitch. save energy as you dont have to hold with one hand on the rope whilst tending on ascending like a HC. Couple issues i have is, 1. cant send a bight down for sending saw up or other gear. Like HC 2. when descending and the rope tails over a branch and then into ZZ, i find it creates a loop from back of pulley and rub against your hand as you descend, which makes it slightly harder to hold the top of ZZ. 3. the pulley would work better with long sides on the feed in, sometimes the rope flicks off and goes to the side of the pulley. Couple pics would explain better, but on the whole its a great piece of kit and looking forward to spending more time on it. point to remember if you make it too short system, its not that good for balancing and running on branches. as your arm is bent and its better when its straighter for balance. Great designed tool
  16. asplundh is a a joke for a long time, but a short 1 year and travelling is ok in NZ. Nar i worked up preston area when i was in Uk.
  17. i used zing it for years and had same problem. i now use this "french Touch concept" stuff. 1.6mm very strong, also with fishing line it in. very very good so far, better to not fold your cube but i do and it works well for me. i am sure someone far smarter than me on Pc's can put a link up.
  18. slippery slope that one bro, next she be after your job
  19. yeah its proper easy ay, nice work then. i like to have two splices on my landyard. if its even just to clip on to harness. sometimes handy to use the other end. Class 2 splice ay, Mean snap gate too ;p mog
  20. ah man epic, what company is that for? Looks like a sweet job ay
  21. This is a transportable crane, drives on a normal laned road. tbf fully fills the lane but legal. i dunno about price think its the same or similar. but you can reach alot more and is alot faster and every time crane point is direct above the piece your cutting with taking ages to extent and then same to lower. lifts bout 5-6ton close maybe 8 very near and max reach 48m 1.4ton or maximum in only one direction back 2 ton. but that when the alarms go off had that a couple times. on some huge poplars.
  22. yes was awesome job, the crane is awesome we use it alot. so so fast, amazing how much work you can do with it. Yes Ian i know, but think we would got in bit trouble. one most popular tourist spots an making big swings on cranes haha. even and Swiss TV out. I think that Crane swing it is a night time mission setup up and ready for first light on a sunday morning. it will happen.....

    Big Snatch

i worked with both of these guys, used to work for Grant Cody full time. he is 3 times Ozzie champ and one of the best riggers i have worked with, loads of knowledge. amazing splicer and is on the Technical Comminty board for the ISA. over 15yrs experience in industry and thats in Ozzie not britain where trees are half the size. Joe hariss the other trainer there, is currenty 2rd in world two years running, also a top splicer. and has written loads of acticles on rigging, angles, climbing tec's etc... spiderman they call him. So i think the idea was to see what happen and yes i think they know what they were doing. i think they explained that in the vid.
