  1. Hello, thinking of getting 10m landyard which i also use as second line when climbing big trees. same setup as CE climb but was thinking just using 10mm OP for the rope. seem to remember some where the minimum for climbing/work positioning was 11mm? also what is the reason for this? cant be strength? Thanks
  2. awesome, think it was a bit longer than every 60 seconds or you are very very fast
  3. i thinking it goes quite well with his name. Lop and Top........
  4. very very easy
  5. couple rings for adjustable cambium saver or something along thoses lines.
  6. i am searching for the next location too. It involves summer, crazy arborists, lots of rope, calculations and cranes:) looks like fun, best setup Ian is 3 trees, then you can jump out one and between the two.
  7. haha mark, best is dont buy and keep your ropes lol
  8. just checked mine too, no burrs no real signs of wear. i also think it could be top top links as they have the sharpest edge. i would post a photo but just basically shows a new zigzag. i will be contacting petzl this wk.
  9. classic and very funny. gets some training you silly old fool.

  11. Yup i think the more people will use then more this is going to come out. i am a lead climber and usually climb for 6hrs day, so in the short period i use the ZZ 2 weeks. i notice massive wear on ropes. hence going back to the HC, which is abit of a shame after i spent all that money. so i think its the links doing the damage not the pulley or the side of the pulley as people have mention. as its constant little wear over the whole rope, then we you do a swing or fast descent is when i think it starts snagging and pulling frays/strands out. i thought of this today, doesnt fix the wear issue but i think fixes alot of the others. I.e Hand burning/ not haul line for gear/ second attachetment point ( back of pinto). seems to be a perfect match. will try tomz got 3 big trees to prune and give the feedback.
  12. agreed but i think it makes alot more difference than you think. yes the rope and letting it run is key. Sometimes you cant and sometimes it locks up for what ever reason, experiance, human mistakes etc etc. i would say the tenex would stretch alot more than you think when it gets to its near/breaking point. So my thinking would be nearly break or at breaking the stretch is 10%, which i think is could make a massive difference when you are getting near those's loads. Tenex-TEC from Samson Rope is a high-strength, low-stretch hollow braid polyester rope. Excellent abrasion resistance 16mm tenex Average breaking 8500kgs Minimum Breaking 7700kgs • Elastic Elongation... At % break strength 10% 20% 30% 1.4% 2.3% 3% at end of the day this was the question, what would you use?.... and then i explained my reasons. no worries if you dont think its right or dyneema will do the job. yes it does but....a old company i worked for in Oz used the same 10mm dyneema amsteel for pretty much most jobs, but when it got to the really big stuff we got the 16mm or 18mm tenex out and the deadeye slings. Cheers for a good discussion. and lets be fair we rig alot bigger pieces than 100kgs ay...
  13. Ditto on the interesting comment lol, where do you think the maximum force goes into/from a rigging system? i wish i could draw a picture on paint, alas the Mac... Anyways so.... standard rigging system 100kgs log weight means 100kgs on one side of rope and 100kgs on the other side. So this means pulley has 200kgs. Pulley is attached by whoopie thus taking maximum load? in my mind anyway. so this area needs to be the strongest, you dont want that flying down as well as the log ay. (you dont want either really...) i suggest Tenx Tec 16mm whoopies/loopies or deadeye slings/knots for big stuff. knots/hitches work as a energy absorber. have a look at few books or try drawing so diagrams, i know that helps me work stuff out sometimes. Hope it makes abit more sense?
  14. woodyguy that makes them even worst for Whoopie.... where do you think all shock/force goes when rigging down? as stated above only for static loading, its amazing but for dynamic its not good. and especially not whoopie/loopies or rigging slings etc etc. Amsteel has less strech than cable, would fancy have rigging slings made out of cable ay... hope that helps, that vid is good to watch to understand abit more too.
  15. Donaghys Cougar Blue 11.7mm.....
  16. this is "Josephine hedger" world champ and many times uk champ too. rope after two days use. as i said there is a issue here,
  17. Silky fox, yeah maybe it has alot to do with the rope. i dont know i just know the two that i come across in person, are very hard wearing on the ropes. enough to stop me climbing on on my ropes. my friend has carried on and his rope is getting worse and worse. i dont have pics of my ropes but maybe next wk. this is his..... and it was a new rope this is from 2 weeks of everyday ZZ use. as you see in the first 3 pics its pretty bad for 5m or more then eases off bit but you can see the fraying signs. i.e on the splice side its very minimal as it get alot less use. last two pics are showing, if your rope running over branch and back into ZZ, you get the nice warm/burning feeling over the back of your hand. great for cold weather. TBH doesnt seem like much of issue at start, it grows old after awhile.
  18. can you put a link up please? i cant see em on the website? or maybe there not up yet. you know how much rope it holds by anychance and size? also anyone with a review on it would be good. how long it lasts etc. thanks
  19. now time to chop it up and see what inside and made off....
  20. as title says, i seen couple pics on here bout Sidewinder for your landyard/flipine. i was trying to get hold of one can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks mog
  21. hmm climbmit. yeah you could be right. also another bloke i work with go one and done same to his rope. i try and get some pics up soon. Also heard a few/ (every one i know who has got one) saying the same thing. Also it states on very clearly that 11.5mm is minimum diameter, just my two cents ay. i been working away all week but when i get back i look more into this ZZ problem of mine, and find out more. i will get the pics up, proper messed up my work mates rope and its a different ZZ. this is way i stopped using it and a few friends have done the same. i am not trying to be negative on the product, just stating the facts i found and people i know and work with. i wish i knew this before and i wouldnt of bought the product until it was rectified. maybe this will save a few pounds for a few people on here. i wish i had.....
  22. tried tachyon/ Cougar Blue/ Imori all getting ripped up by the ZZ in very short time. there is a serious issue that needs fixing here. so much so i have now gone back to my hitch and fine it sooooo much nicer on the rope. what a shame, maybe next few little changes it be spot on.
  23. looks pretty good, i like the test between the two on the euc. good idea, that what sold it to me. be trying to get one shortly
  24. that looks very dangerous......if it wasnt a 2m tree
  25. How about when you climb up the rope and shake the tree.... does that scare the fishes too? or are they warm up to you bit by then.
