  1. yeah used both, you do feel the difference on your hands for sure. but i climb all day everyday pretty much with tachyon and no gloves works for me. but yes is bouncy on long pulls, but its so light and flows through the crown very well. both pretty hard wearing i think maybe Blue tongue bit more, also might add its exactly the same as Poison Ivy but different colour. for me Tachyon is number 1

    New pair boots

haha yeah love my fish board ay yeah like i say Salewas are the best boot i owned and a proper all round boot. used everyday and for everything walking mountain climbing comps etc. they got proper used and abused. these boots are very different! flat sole, stupidly light and not much support other than the sole. so obviously i wont be expecting the same, as they will be doing different things. but i hope they last longer than a month haha. i got them for America they are 5.10's Canyoning boots, one best rock companies there is. i be back in a month then fingers crossed [ame]http://www.amazon.com/FiveTenn-Mens-Water-Tennie-Hiking/dp/B007G72L7A[/ame] size was true for me
  3. just worn through my salwea's, best boots i ever own. so i bought these...... will give review in month or two, i think they are more for big trees climbing pruning not fellings and defo not spikes.
  4. looks bit similar to this one, but this one is bit clearer. good old Norther's, its more for DRT but might get the brains ticking. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y9VqikJwwE]retreivable redirect. DEMO (dom eastwood) - YouTube[/ame] you can also do this with a Double Bowline, which is 100% safe and very simple.
  5. @ j. Bailey i worked there for over 6 months its a good company, you will enjoy it. Ian will be a good boss, best of luck. got away with rope and got charged going to Oslo same price as a new rope. when i flew back from Ozzie i had 10 Throwbags on my person, they didnt like it too much in Dabei was pretty funny. no its not a bomb promise saved me 2-3kgs tho
  6. NIce rich, i just did used tachyon other day. was a #### to finish, Obviously needed the help you got. good work
  7. @ Q-tip wait till you try 10mm AP you will see the difference. i have no issue at all with no CE ratings as long as it is tested and by a good company. @Coleman, i also have the Snakeanhcor great bit of kit very quick to setup and nice with the shock absorder at 4kn but remember you have to created alot more force than that to break it. as your rope will be over a crotch and then on the other side. Joe was telling me it took lots of effort to break his test one with that size log. Also After awhile some of the stitching breaks with wear against the tree, i had mine maybe half year tho and still sweet as. That is the Problem! it is one or the other and i have taken the static accent with Snake anchor option. if unsure test your anchor x2 people, if more unsure re-throw. used the New Platinum today, and also think that is bouncy.
  8. Snakebite is bouncy bro, i did like Spectra Speed is made by Donagys and cheap. or the other road is the worlds best 10mm Armor Prus more static than cable hows that for static.
  9. nice some serious forces there, i wonder if it would work better with a more open Gob at the bottom? to take out the little kick and the end? if you know what i mean, or doing gob back to front. properly just be the same snap. and friend of me told it takes out some of the forces as this/normal way when the tree is is fully closed on the Gob then it snaps the fibres rather then if it was more open it could keep going without the sudden pop at the end.
  10. Wow insane man, sweat palms when he hung off the end ay. i am all up for that but i love having a backup. amazing sunrise and setting next is a swing of it ......
  11. i won of thoses throwpod at uk comp havent had much time to use it but i found it wobbling abit through the air? am i doing something wrong here? i just double throwline through the Metal eye and throw as normal.. or does this not affect the flight? i imagine it would? thanks matt
  12. thats Rich, i thing you can do also not mentioned is to swap it from top to bottom and share the wear on that Half hitch part. (retie i mean) other than the Figure 8 etc their isnt much you can do other than buy new hitch cord for me its not too major unless i am swinging round a tree like a mad man and then its worth a new Cord for the fun of the CLimb.
  13. i been climbing 8yrs and still messing round with different Vt's and hitches, i dont think it will ever stop as new ropes come out and spiderjack/lockjack and ZigZag are no way near as good. best for grip bro, is good pair gloves, Showa are pretty good and reasonable priced.
  14. .yeah only problem with the Knut is it burns through your hitch cords very fast. especially on half hitch bit on bottom. your VT looks good to me, i dont like having to grab/set my hitch everytime i want it to hold. i dont reckon thats very safe ay, i think you should be able to pull under the pulley and sit back, that is a safe knot to me.
  15. butter on rope and then wash it out, hear some guys taking little spray bottle of olive oil up and spray it on massive pine removals and ficus etc
  16. should gone to UK comp, heaps of them for prizes. i won 2 ;p ISC did a great job on the prizes.

    Zipline

another cool vid by RCO but you must be getting pretty bored of Fir's and removing them by now ay? i had similar thing in Ozzie with Big Euc's, took its toll on me and moved back to Europe for Pruning now, do 80% pruning and rest is crane removals, alas i am missing rigging abit now. its a fine balance ay. i found Norway and Sweden to have the balance perfect but then the winter is too cold.

    A new hybrid

haha nar i setup a simialar thing on single system year or two ago. nar i dont 'step over the edge' with my rope haha. i just let the HC does its job and it does so well, just lean into your rope and it will flow smoothly unless over heaps branches you know the drill. enjoy climbing and tinkering, see you at LB again next year. Matt

    A new hybrid

Hey Treespotter you have completely defeated the point of the HC if you have it in that position. when rope runs over branch and then into top of carabineer. yeah i think HC version is better but does need TESTING ay, balance point looks weird. The first HitchZag as you call it, looked like the strongest and balanced on the HC. but other version looks abit more streamlined.

    A new hybrid

few question. whats the strength of thoses bolts you put in? and how does the HC look and feel when you load it? be great to see a video. Turning it backwards if pretty niffty too. does it still feel/work the same? does this allow you to use the hauling system on the HC for gear chainsaws etc.

    A new hybrid

i really do like the idea, but i would like if some who is about to climb on contacted dmm and see if the pulley can withstand this force first. as with a hitch it is not loaded anything like this ay. i mean it looks good but a quick question is a good idea ay. really dont want another accident on this. also i really doubt Petzl and DMM will join as, DMM is more to do with ropes.
