  1. nar bro i got one from freeworker at Euro's in Munich. but wouldnt it defeated the point if you put a Half hitch in there aswell? bineers are sweet unless you doing big snatching, just wrap rope round wood twice and 70kn steelies. what you mean about pintos?
  2. why would you need to put it throught a pinto? used mine today for 2hrs Cedar falling job. first time properly used it and yeah nar, bit of pain for small stuff. i much prefer a bineer
  3. HAGLÖFS ROC LEGEND MID GT | Haglöfs how about those flash boots, i think you wont be able to stop running in the haha also 88 quid on amazon but in even better colours
  4. how come the DB rating is so low on then? i thought need to be way higher? most chainsaws are over 100DB?
  5. New redirect i been using over summer works really nice, dont really use retrievable clip much, lives on my harness to attach end off my landyard now.
  6. oh yeah true, what bout dead eye sling with x2 spliced eyes? same effect but bit faster? not too keen on timber hitch as it can sometimes roll. what size and rope you use? also what trees and weights you lifting please?
  7. balacning is no worries as it usually small diameter, thus easier to manage what i what is for the big wood 2+tns. yeah you could be right about the diameter. looking forward to seeing that Vid stephen but want to move away from heavy chains that are hard to set properly.
  8. yeah true, i mean the textile ones we are all talking slip and yeah notching can work but then you create a sharp edge which also cuts/ tears the slings. they are very prone to that. but i was thinking more 20mm/22mm rope, good old knots. obviously reduce strength but so does tucking the chain round the stem and choking it off and side loading the hook. but yes with big weights you can see the inprint of the chain against the stem. yeah loads compaines will only use chains, but i think there has to be more to it...
  9. can you explain the slipping slings bit more? how about loading the hook across the axils. i.e like a bineer that they say never to do in rigging.
  10. So with the winter coming and more crane felling coming. i am wondering more and more what is better? We do lots of crane jobs and only use chains. we have 3 different sizes. 2.5m/ 3.5m/ 4.5m/ which are all adjustable very easily. which is pretty good for everything until you get to BIG stuff then its a pain to work with them. you lose the height/liner for the piece, sometimes too small. also the hooks turn up sometime and cant take ages for it turn round the right way, or sometimes you just cant stop it. anyways.... i would like to know people opinions for and against of each. obviously not stating the obvious like weight, rubbing on the road etc. also i would like to convince my boss to use ropes/slings for the very big stuff but i will need some better facts. Thanks MOG
  11. whats the need for Dynamic rope to hand ascender? when you are attached straight to binner and croll etc? surely if you have broken the croll/ripped the rope/ and so on, half a metre of dynamic rope not going to do much? on kernmantle the sheath rips... which means you fly down on the sheath with a strong core? dont really see the bonus in that? unless like you said had a hitch above and maybe that grab the core. but like others had said if you have any of thoses problems you are in serious ..... way better to do good assessments and rethrow if unsure. MOG
  12. you still get the same effect bro
  13. you would have to create soooo much force to break snake anchor/ asborber. with all the friction being on the fork/s and branch along the way. better way would be having the asborber connected to you.
  14. hahaha low key and exclusive... we are the tree masons Shhhhhh dont make to much noise
  15. lets hope they made the pulley bigger too
  16. Not tree climbing but awesome fun over the wkend. watch in HD its way better cheers MOG
  17. haha only if you work in the UK Mark Yeah true, RCO but you have to give it to them they smashed it yet again. and for another year this is a true title. like in 2011 man and woman champ. i think only country to do that. I love that idea Scots pine. but more of epic huge jump 100ft, laughing about isa doing it tho, we have discussed the idea and it will happen. maybe not 700ft tho more tree like. these trees were stupidly small, smallest i ever been to a comp. Epic ramp and Vid
  18. very very easy bro, just abit stitching to hold it together. folded over x3 and stitched very well and whip and heat shrink for stopper knot. stick bit tubing over before that tho for the eye. works just the same bro, i think its same diameter? maybe ART one is 6mm?
  19. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezS4cK62zkw&feature=c4-overview&list=UUBku0_sRLFK6WfLAdLHu2WQ]Kiwis Rule the Tree World - YouTube[/ame]
  20. says the man making that video
  21. Not quite splicing but pretty dam close, made up for a friend as he had busted his ART with rigging guide running over it.
  22. yeah i know Ben but thats only in Winter, in summer i dont wear chainsaw pants and just prune trees. well today i smashed out a huge beech emergency job over the street with police stopping traffic and forester clearing up. ;p anyways yeah i guess similar to those's screamers but free and you would still have the original strength of the rope but less force? i think if you dont tighten the Marlin spike too much by had it should pop out no worries ay. only one way too find you, you riggers should give it a bash and let me know what happens, not much i guess but less force. i try and work some out too.
  23. thinking about this the other day. so when you rigging knots set and dress for snatching etc. how about between the pulley and log Marlin spike or two? i know this would extent the lenght but would bite and load and bite and load. what are your thoughts? been yet to try it out was just a idea and i dont do rigging much anymore but miss the thinking of it. cheers mog
  24. MOG

    O-Rig

yeah used it abit but bit bit clunky and moves around little bit too. i used to have a extendable bridge and in my opinion that was far superior and not as clunky and fast to setup. but now i just climb as normal i find it faster by the time you messed about changing it and then changing it back you be there already. aslways to to try stuff out tho good luck
  25. Pinto Rig pulleys are mint, rope friendly and perfect for re-directs. 16mm max tho. works nice in a Loopie or Whoopie setup very quick and compact setup no bineers needed. We already know what your buying....
