  1. Theyve been beaching themselves besides the Thames in London lately and swimming up the tiny tributary towards Buckingham Palace, Trying to find the the Prince of Wales
  2. 'So , technically you have the logs for free , if it is a decent tree , one you can sell the logs , what do you need to do , cut / split and dry ( whatever method ) You are saying you cannot compete with these “ exporters “ , who need to BUY the logs , do same processes as you need to do , cut / split , dry , not to mention supply them in crates ( which would cost a few quid as well ) , then SHIP them from hundreds ( thousands ? ) miles away ( would have thought big cost ) and sell them cheaper than here ? Sure even if the labour was free where they are coming from , how long does it take for you to produce 1 cubic metre logs , with all the Pro equipment you guys have 15 minutes flat or less ? I know I can probably do it in around 2 hours with my laughable but capable ! equipment So labour does not really come up to much surely.' I was with you on so much up to that comment. The logs are 'free' to us???? Maybe that can be argued, but a lot of log merchants are NOT tree surgeons. As for the cheap and easy production with all that kit!!! 'Kin ell, how do you think all that kit is paid for? How is it maintained.
  3. What a load of bollards. Next thing theyll be expecting us to use saws with those chain-brake thingies on them. All too soft these days:sneaky2:
  4. Its a bit like offering discounts for OAPs. When there is no accurately measurable deliverable, then discounts, extras are totally subjective. I suspect we all base the cost on the amount of effort required, disposal costs and required profit for the job. My brain can't cope with much more than that and I dont have the time for mathematical faffing. Just my 'umble opinion guvnor.
  5. I don't see why you would use them. If you can't show piccies of your own work - what have you been doing?
  6. We are advanced here in Sussex, we only work on canopies, NOT crowns. How 'last year' some people are......
  7. Cheers Gary and Steve. It seems to have plenty of power!!! I will look at the cable quadrant/throttle valve tonight and see. Maybe best leave it till tomorrow - dont want to upset the neighbours.
  8. You could paint a TAXI logo on it and mount it on the roof.
  9. I am too old and dim to work out why my Stihl hedge trimmer is doing what it is. Its an older single sided beastie (maybe an HS85 - label long worn away). It starts OK and runs fine, but only at full speed??? The throttle cable is returning fine, the butterfly valve is closing but it will not slow down? I used it for about 20 minutes today doing some 'clearance' and it was perfect, except that it had to be turned off every time I put it down. The choke mechanism seems to work OK - is it something carby? what should I look for. Cheers Confused oldie.
  10. I honestly think someone in Government mis-read their objective.... The purpose of Government is to ru(i)n the country by whatever political and economic means are appropriate.
  11. My groundie recons it's all about appeasing the Iluminati and those chem-trails that the powers that be rig up in the 747s. What can we do about it anyway, but carry on working hard to earn a living.
  12. WL91, don't let them get to you. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Einstein, they laughed at Les Dawson. Gotta have a bit of fun when you can.
  13. In answer to the intended OP question - Yes there will be, those with TW will support TW, those with others will support their manufacturers. Millions of threads on here.
  14. Heads down, everyone in the trench - this could get messy.
  15. Good machines, I've got the 450, have also used 38hp and 50 hp tracked ones. All very narrow for their class but good power. The multitip cutting wheels will take rhino teeth too. Twice as fast as muti-tip and easier to sharpen.
  16. Fly tippers just aren't as efficient as they used to be.
  17. Has anyone got a tin of tartan paint?
  18. Bit of a long shot... Having just seen the United colours of Greenmech thread, it reminded me. As some of you may recall I managed to roll my chipper (at only 4mph) some years ago. I recon I should really replace it but can't justify a new one. Is anyone in posession of a 'breaking' 15-23 with a half decent chute. If so please let me know, happy to pay a fair price. Cheers:thumbup:
  19. That's harsh, I've had my defender for seven years and .... errrrrr... hmmmm:blushing:
  20. Should've gone for reliabililty... and got a defender.
  21. We all say 'If it survived the storm then it should be OK with just a climbers weight' As someone once said 'You can say that about any tree right up to the moment it fails'. It's your neck up there, do it as safely/riskily? as you feel comfy - make sure you are there to fight another day.
  22. Shane

    Walnut

No, please, not again. Short answer - whatever someone is willing to pay for it, now.... where's that video clip?
  23. Maybe re-word your opening gambit. Saying you have worked for a lot of companies in the area and keep getting binned off is not a ringing endorsement. What do YOU want to happen (something you can instigate rather than a potential benefactor)?
  24. I saw someone doing some bad tree work (here's a photo). Cos I criticised it that must mean I'm a really good tree surgeon - please agree!
