  1. looks interesting! does anyone know what sort of success rate these type of transplants have?
  2. i would be interested in one day seminars such as these. they would be useful to recap knowledge, or as an introduction to a specific area. in my opinion, there will be a demand for day courses such as these, as people get to gain some specialist knowledge without having to battle through a tech cert or degree. and of course those who attend the seminar may be inspired to go further, perhaps attending more courses or starting an HE course for example. plus the one day format allows flexibility to fit around work hours/ home commitments.
  3. i take it you mean large (two handed) loppers? because you can get scabbards for smaller secateurs, one of the shops on the right might stock 'em.
  4. not sure about scabbards but you could just drill a hole in the handle and thread some thin cord through, and attach that to either your harness or mewp railings. Might become a nuisance though as it might get caught on branches etc

  11. although this was a very small conifer i was impressed that my hinge was of such a standard that after snedding, the stem sprang up to stand almost upright again. i was also able to walk along to the end of the stem tight-rope style. RATE MY HINGE

  15. give them a quote for the work that includes leaving on site ALL logs, and give them a quote that includes removal of all logs. then you will both know approximately where your at. after they have taken some logs you can then give them a price for taking away what is left
  16. i wish there were more trees like this in our parks- contorted, unique, and interesting shapes, as well as untold ecological value! keep up the good work! im jealous of your job MonkeyD haha
  17. good luck on your hunt, im just now looking for a pic i saw once of a churchyard near where i live, showing one of the now biggest trees when it was a lot younger... good to see the story of an old tree
