  7. cheers
  8. its cos durham's that small man haha im glad of the customers keeping the logs at the moment cos mine just arent shifting. give the odd bag to my friends but no one else seems interested lol
  9. i'm a sucker for a compliment so i'll let you off!
  10. i am aware that you are way more knowledgeable than me on this subject, i was just being polite thats all
  11. thats pretty much what i wanted to know
  12. quoted a job today to remove an elder, and the customer wanted to know how much extra it would cost for me to let them keep the logs! they could have easily been ripped off there!
  13. p.s not trying to catch you out or anything. maybe i misunderstood
  14. i am aware of this, i just wondered why it was a distinct possibility in the case of THIS bracket... "laeti can at times find a way in to modify the sapwood layer, looking at your bracket this is a distinct possability."
  15. is there anything in particular that suggests this? size/form of bracket or its position on the tree maybe? just curious
  16. interesting bit of info. i've recently seen it cause a couple of branch failures in woodland oak. nothing major though really
  17. Miniature Art on the Tip of Pencil by Dalton Ghetti crazy
  18. i wasnt suggesting otherwise, just wondering what would happen in that situation thats all
  19. cheers AA teccie for the info, i think i'll give the owner another chance to sort it out then notify the appropriate authority, better to be safe than sorry eh .
  20. i read somewhere that sap "bleeding" can actually be beneficial, as it can prevent fungal colonization... anyone else read this?
  21. how often are roadside trees surveyed? or does it depend on the agency/ authority? just i would have thought a surveyor would have picked up on this one, as it has been in a bad way for a number of years
  22. all good info thanks. i suppose its worth informing the owner that although they may think the removal is too costly now, it would be even more expensive if it had to go through the LA
  23. and i realize that a lot of this is hypothetical, but i think it raises some interesting questions about boundary issues and liability, etc
  24. makes sense! what if the tree owner physically prevented the work from being done in the first place? i ask just because you do get those people who are VERY funny about people coming onto their land, even for good reason
  25. i was taught this method, although only moving without the chainbrake on when the saw is on the opposite side of the stem. however, i still knock the chainbrake on whenever im moving my feet, all it takes is one slip... and it isnt exactly difficult or time consuming to knock the chainbrake on/off
